Bonilla Won’t Run for State Senate Against Steve Glazer in 2016

by ECT

In an email today, Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla announced that she will not run for California State Senate against Senator Steve Glazer, who beat her by 9% points in May.

In announcing she would not run, she highlighted she did not want a campaign focused on negative behavior, but rather the discussion of ideas. This comes after a campaign where voters were flooded with negative ads and dozes of mailers.

Here is a look at her letter:

Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for your support and partnership which has resulted in school improvements, a strengthening of our economy, the expansion and implementation of quality health care, and greater consumer protection for our families.

Your words of encouragement and support have inspired my advocacy efforts in Sacramento to continue doing what you elected me to do: Make California a better place for our children and families.

Because of your great efforts and partnership, the community encompassing the 14th California State Assembly District and the 7th California State Senate District is a remarkable place to live.

We are blessed to live in a vibrant, hard working community that is equally committed to creating prosperity and helping our at-risk members overcome the struggles in their daily lives.

I believe our efforts are best spent in uniting our collective voices to help achieve a better quality of life for our entire community.  Having our community experience a negative and divisive election based on lies, personal attacks, and defamation of character is harmful and damaging for our community. Running for Public Office should always be focused on a debate of ideas and values that will help our community and not tear us apart.

Therefore, in order to ensure that all of our collective efforts remain focused on building a stronger foundation for the next generation of families, I am announcing that I will not run for State Senate in 2016.

I hope we can continue to work together for the betterment of our state, community, and our families as I complete my term in the Assembly in December 2016. Together, we can ensure the next generation of Californians will achieve their dreams by having high quality schools, good paying jobs, and safe communities in which to raise their families.

Thank you,

Susan

Thank goodness. Susan was just as responsible for the negative hit pieces as Glazier was. The DIFFERENCE Is Susan is in denial-even in this press release she refuses to take any responsibility. Her agenda has always been about schools and throwing more money at them. It was no surprise to see how she ended her letter and “prioritized” what’s important for us. Thanks Susan, but no thanks-we will pick our own priorities.

She has certainly earned her political nickname “Heavy B”.

The only question remaining is will she try to run for a different political seat despite the loud and clear signal of voter rejection in the district. The word on the street is she is eying her former seat on the board of supervisors. Watch your back Karen. Heavy B is in bed with labor groups and has no problem pushing her weight around.
