Bethel Island: Two Suffer Burns in Flash Fire, 1 Airlifted to UC Davis

At 4:44 pm Saturday, East Contra Costa firefighters responded to a report of burn victims in the 4500 block of South Willow Road.

Upon arrival, Engine 93 (Oakley) located two patients who were burned when the boat they were in had a flash fire. They say by the time they arrived on scene, the fire was already out.

Upon medical examination, it was determined that a pediatric patient was in need of further care and was transported by AMR to Sutter Delta Hospital in Antioch. Meanwhile, an adult female was airlifted to UC Davis Burn Center by CALSTAR.

The cause of the fire was listed as undetermined by the District and is under investigation by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
