Contra Costa County Sheriff Deputies took three people into custody Sunday evening after evidence suggests that a cockfight had taken place.
On Sunday, sheriff’s deputies received a tip from an unknown person around 8:35 pm about a possible cockfight on the 7000 block of Piper Road on Bethel Island. As deputies arrived at the location, multiple peopled fled the area.
According to Jimmy Lee, Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Spokesman, three people were taken into custody. Two were spectators at a cockfight and another for animal cruelty offenses.
Contra Costa Animal Control arrived on scene around 10:00 pm where they stated the property had a mixture of about 200 chickens and roosters including a number of dead animals. Animal Control stated they were on scene into the early morning hours investigating.
“Cockfighting is very secretive and we usually get a tip from neighbors. This is animal cruelty and we do not want it happening in our community. It happens much more than we are aware of so we rely on people to report it to us. That is very important,” said Lt. Anderson. “Just because someone has a lot of roosters, it’s not illegal to possess roosters, it doesn’t mean we can go in there and arrest, if there is a cockfight in progress, we can then take action.”

Cops pointing loaded guns at people over a chicken…… Illegals coming across out borders. Wars in the Middle East. Kids starving in our cities. Drug crimes running rampant. Nightly murders in Chicago. And all we have to worry about is chickens? This country has lost its sensibilities. When chickens are more important than humans.

Cock fights are pretty brutal and savage. They put razor blades on the feet. Same as dog fights, it is pretty inhumane. But I get your point. You probably should have used Antioch instead of Chicago as it hits closer to home. Antioch is little Chicago now. Contra Costa, where cock fights are the game and murder is lame.
