Belle Says He Will “Never Resign” After Being Charged with Misdemeanor for Allegedly Lying to Voters

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office filed criminal charges Wednesday against Jeff Belle , a county Board of Education Trustee, who allegedly lied to voters on his ballot statement.

Belle is now facing a maximum penalty of $1,000. His term expires in 2018, according to the Contra Costa County Office of Education.

Here is a look at his ballot statement:

Jeff Belle
Educator

I am running for the governing board of Contra Costa County Board of Education because I can bring excellence in education through fair and transparent policies which motivate, and engage classroom communities. I am married and have a daughter attending in the district and a son in graduate school at Cambridge University, Cambridge, England.

My professional experience includes many years in the health care profession as a clinician and educator. Further, I owned a government relations business and an institute for training students in health care. Both leadership and management experiences provided me a wealth of practical knowledge in bringing out the very best in both students and clinicians.

Academically, I’m completing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in Health Policy and have earned certificates in Health Policy and Public Health; Bachelors degree in Political Science, and a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

I’ve been active in the PTSA by severing as legislative chair and on the County’s Transit Authority Advisory Committee, Emergency Medical Care Committee and Tobacco Prevention Coalition.

I will use my knowledge, experience and leadership skills to bring significant improvements by engaging Classrooms with Communities which produce fairness, caring, and excellence in education.

Belle, who won his seat with nearly 51% of the vote oversees Bethel Island, Clyde, Knightsen, Oakley, and parts of Antioch, Bay Point, Brentwood and Pittsburg.

In a statement via email, Belle replied he would “never resign”.

Citing an ongoing investigation and the pending misdemeanor charge, Senior Deputy District Attorney Steve Moawad said he could not disclose what exactly Belle is alleged to have lied about. However, over the last year, several news outlets including this publication, Claycord and the Antioch Herald accused Belle of lying to voters about his education.

District Attorney Mark Peterson said in a statement that voters are entitled to the truth. “The democratic process is fundamental to our system of government,” Peterson said. “The integrity of our elections is fundamental to that process and must be protected.4

Most recently, in April he was evicted for the third time and accused of domestic violence, although no charges were ever filed.

Belle has also been accused of living outside his District once being evicted. Belle denies those claims.

“I live and have always lived in the district. I will not resign nor retreat from providing clear and direct leadership for the students and parents of the districts I serve,” said Belle. “This is a political and racially motivated witch-hunt. You could not beat me in the polls, nor will you beat me in court. ”

Belle also added, “…they shall fight against you, but they Shall Not prevail, for I am with you to deliver you,” thus said The Lord of Host!

This guy needs to go and he needs to go immediately. Something has to be done to get him out of office. What kind of example does he send to college kids?

Perfect candidate for a voter recall and criminal prosecution.
