Becton Increases Lead in Contra Costa District Attorney Race, Runoff Unlikely

by ECT

An update by Contra Costa County Elections Wednesday showed that Diana Becton continues to hold above the 50% threshold to outright win the District Attorney seat while hear lead continues to grow.

Wednesdays results showed Becton sits at 50.49% (94,663) while Paul Graves sits at 42.18% (79,081). Becton’s lead is now 15,582 votes. Lawrence Stevens Strauss is at 7.33% (13,739 votes)

If results hold, Becton would win outright and there would be no run-off election in November as she only needs 50%+1 to win the race.

Becton issued the following statement shortly after the update was issued.

“Today, the vote count in Contra Costa County was updated with the addition of votes counted from the final round of absentee ballots. My support now stands at 50.49% of total votes cast in our race. I continue to be proud of our campaign and the support we have achieved from across the county. However, just over 10,000 ballots remain to be counted and are expected to be added to the totals by Friday, June 22. As I have said many times, every vote matters. I look forward to seeing the final vote count next week,” said Becton.

Contra Costa County Elections is hoping to finalize its results by Friday June 22, 2018.

Results as of Wednesday:

  • 50.49% (94,663) – Diana Becton
  • 42.18% (79,081) – Paul Graves
  • 7.33% (13,739) – Lawrence Steven Strauss

On Election Day, it was reported that 20.74% of voters cast votes. As of Wednesday, that number jumped to 37.68% with 226,906 ballots counted.

People that care in Antioch better start lubing up, cause we are so screwed! I Heard they are building a Popeyes in Sycamore to celebrate this!

Weak. Gentrification will come there eventually, but Popeyes is much less likely.

How is she in your Constitutional rights? Does she follow the Constitution? Or does she make stuff up on the fly, I would love to see how many of her decisions have been thrown out? I studied her before the election, to me she sounds like a communist/socialist,. But we have to give her a chance and see if she can do better. We will see if she is about blind justice or is she all about the color of ones skin!! We will see Many Constitutional Libertarian folks black and white will be watching, to see how it goes… I would like to see her be a roll model for young girls, and teach them about the Constitution and there rights, and teach them life isn’t about hand outs, but about hard work, getting up Every day and going to work and that nothing comes easy, so let’s get everyone up off the couch and get them to work, and to follow the law, and hard stiff work program for those that struggle getting to a job, to get any assistance they must participate in community they are using to live at the time.. Hard work doesn’t hurt nobody and keeps them out of street problems or wanting to disrespect the law, Let’s get these kids of all races that are legal citizens not in school into doing Productive Work!! Not standing around talking but teaching them how to be productive!!!! That would be the best hope or this society is Done, and probably need to build lots of work prison camps….

If this woman makes it, then brace yourselves for a crime spree you couldn’t even imagine! It’s up to each of us to take care of our own safety so you KNOW what I mean!
