Here is the official press release from USA Baseball on Sept. 12:

DURHAM, N.C. — USA Baseball announced the 59 athletes selected for 2015 on-field programming in a selection show aired on USABaseball.com following the completion of the 2014 USA Baseball National Team Identification Series.

The 2015 NTIS — the largest in the seven years of the event — included athletes from six different demographics, representing 16 regions from across the country. In all, the NTIS provided opportunity for 1,456 athletes to compete in 123 games over three weekends at the USA Baseball National Training Complex and adjoining Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C.

Using the NTIS as the selection vehicle, USA Baseball selected eight players to the 2015 18U National Team Trials, 12 players to the 2015 17U National Team Development Program, 12 players to the 2015 15U National Team Trials, 12 players to the 2015 14U National Team Development Program, 12 players to the 2015 12U National Team Trials and three players to the 2015 Women’s National Team Trials.

“USA Baseball, with the help of our regional partners, has continued to grow the NTIS each year,” said Mark Dvoroznak, USA Baseball’s assistant director of development. “In 2015, we were able to provide opportunity for an additional 374 athletes over the 2014 event. Our regional partners helping to bring together the top players from coast-to-coast gives USA Baseball the opportunity to begin identifying the athletes that will represent the U.S. in baseball in 2015 and beyond.”

The 59 athletes selected for 2015 on-field programming represent 24 different states, as well as an athlete from Washington, D.C.
