Here is a look at the local events in East Contra Costa County this weekend along with save the date for a few events further out.


8:00 am: Brentwood Farmers Market
Join the Brentwood Farmers Market which runs every Saturday now through November 19 on Oak Street in Brentwood. The market runs from 8:00 am to noon.


8:00 am: 1st Annual Inter-Tribal Tracy Powwow
Free to get in and free parking

 10:00 am: Art Wine & Jazz Festival at Streets of Brentwood

The Brentwood Art Society annual premier fundraising event held on Saturday & Sunday, the Art, Wine & Jazz Festival is hosted once again by The Streets of Brentwood. A family friendly free event in a perfect venue brings together local vintners, original art and fine craft and the Bay Area’s finest musicians representative of multiple genres of Jazz.

10:00 am: Delta Quilters’ 24th Annual Harvest on the Delta Quilt Show

 

Located at the Brentwood Community Center (35 Oak Street Brentwood, CA) join the Delta Quilters Guild as they host their annual event to help raise funds. Delta Quilters is a non-profit organization focusing on advancing the art and skill of quilting while benefiting the various charities we serve.  We have over 100 members and donate many quilts each year to local hospitals and organizations.  The guild presents an annual quilt show, offers monthly workshops, and organizes an annual quilting retreat.

Price: Weekend Price: $10. Under 6: Free

6:00 pm Antioch Summer Concert Series (Free)

This Saturday, August 27, Vocal-Ease/The Boogie Man (40’s, 50’s & 60’s) will be playing at Waldie Plaza from 6-8 PM. The free concerts will continue every Saturday through the end of August.  The concerts are possible due to the generosity of our sponsors.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and visit a downtown restaurant before the concert or bring a light meal/snack from home. Waldie Plaza is a designated park and park rules apply (no alcohol, dogs on leash, etc.).


6:30 pm: Antioch Speedway
You are invited to watch racing Saturday night at the Antioch Speedway with six divisions which include 5-6 Racing Divisions including Mods, Dwarf Cars, Wingless Sprints and Limited Late Models. Gates open at 5:00 pm and racing begins at 6:30 pm.

Dusk – Oakley Movie in the Plaza Featuring “Minions”

oin the City of Oakley in downtown Oakley, to enjoy a movie under the stars. Admission is free and movies begin at dusk. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs. For more information call 925‐625‐7041.

August 28: K911 Tats4Cats Fundraiser
K911 has partnered with King Cobra Tattoo shop in Oakley   For a fundraiser they are calling TATS4CATS.  King Cobra Tattoo shop owner Shelby Lozano said he felt the need to get involved because he himself is an animal lover and also enjoys giving back to local nonprofits.

The event will be held at 3420 Main Street in Oakley on Sunday August 28th from 10am to 8pm for a flat rate of $50 you can chose from a flash card of custom chosen art for this event. They are asking that event goers to please bring cash.  There will be tattoos, raffles and much more.

K911 will use donations to help pay for: medical bills, s/n bills their TNR (Trap Neuter Release program) up and running in 2017 that will be stared In memory of their fallen rescue warrior Cynthia Rasmussen – K911 will continue her legacy.


August 28: Antioch Rivertown Celebrates Exclusive Local Wines
Please join us for a relaxing afternoon of wine tasting at our beautiful Historical Museum in Rivertown. We will be tasting wines from 5 local and exceptional wineries, Bloomfield, Cline, D’Art, Leer and Viano.

The event is Sunday August 28th from 2pm to 5pm at the Antioch Historical Museum located at 1500 W. 4th Street in downtown Antioch. Tickets are only $25!

Included in the ticket price are specialty hors d’oeuvres, an amazing raffle and a silent auction of antique items from some of our Rivertown residents. All this while listening to the smooth sounds of saxophonist Shawn Raiford. The museum will also be open for you to tour during your visit.

El Campanil Theatre wants to encourage new patrons to discover our wonderful foreign film series. Many of you have never seen a foreign film, and we would like to make the experience easier for you to try it out.

Captain Abu Raed (Jordan)
Abu Raed is an old airport janitor who has always yearned of seeing the world but has never been able to afford to travel. One day a group of children in his poor neighborhood assume he is a pilot and beg him to share stories of the world outside of Amman, Jordan. Through imaginary tales a friendship forms and he finds the grim realities of the children’s home life. He takes it upon himself to make a difference.

September 10: Antioch Police Open House
Join the Antioch Police Department as they host an open house from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the police department.

The event will feature bike safety, bike helmets (while supplies last), learning about volunteer opportunities, McGruff the crime dog, Crime Prevention information, and activities. Also as part of the event is guided police department tours, animal adoptions, k9 demonstrations and SWAT Vehicle displaces.


September 17: Heart of Oakley Festival
Join the City of Oakley beginning at 10:00 am for the annual Heart of Oakley Festival which includes wine and beer along Main St.

September 23: Antioch Police Activities League 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The Antioch Police Activities League have announced they will host their 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament registration for player and sponsorship is now open. The tournament will be taking place on Friday, September 23, 2016, at Lone Tree Golf Course and Event Center here in Antioch.

The field is limited to 128 players and is now sold out.

September 24: Special Haven Texas Hold ‘Em Fundraiser event

On Sept. 24, join Special Haven for a Texas Hold ‘Em Fundraiser event at the Brentwood Veterans Memorial Hall at 757 First Street in Brentwood. Dinner is at 5:00 pm with cards beginning at 6:30 pm. The event is $60 before 9/10 or $80 at the door. Dinner is $25 there are also raffles, 50/50 raffle, and door prizes.

All money raised goes to Special Haven for the support and maintenance of their state of the art multi-sensory room.
