After nearly two-days without service, customers of AT&T wireless had its service restored Friday morning after a third-party contractor accidentally cut a wireline in Pleasant Hill.

The outage began Wednesday afternoon and affected customers across East County who could not log onto the internet. Several of our readers in Antioch and Pittsburg complained about having no internet service.

The accidental cut came during a road construction project in Pleasant Hill.

“Service was restored Friday morning after a third-party cable cut impacted wireline services for some AT&T customers in Walnut Creek late Wednesday afternoon. Our technicians worked around the clock to repair the damage that occurred during work on a road project, and service is currently running normally,” said Alex Carey, an AT&T spokesman.

When asked how many customers were impacted, Carey stated that they do not provide specific customer numbers. He did say that the cut wire did leave customers in Walnut Creek without service as well.

During the internet outage I would call AT&T tech support for up dates. And I found them to be very apologetic and helpful. However at one of our store locations both the modem AND the router failed and had to be replaced. Three AT& T technicians said AT&T was not responsible! I guess I’m to believe the router and modern failures were only a coincidence!

Don’t forget to request a pro rated adjustment to your att internet bill for no service during the outage. It should be automatic but It’s not even if it’s a couple of dollars and a lot of inconvience.
