Assemblymember Frazier Announces State Grant to Shelter, Inc. of Contra Costa County

Assemblymember Jim Frazier is pleased to announce that the California Department of Housing and Community Development has awarded $316,000 in Emergency Solutions Grants to Shelter, Inc. of Contra Costa County.

The Martinez-based agency, which serves the entire county, received a $100,000 grant for its Homeless Prevention Program and a $116,000 grant for its Rapid Rehousing Program.

“Shelter Inc. has a 29-year track record of helping low-income residents keep a roof over their heads, and these funds will allow it to continue that good work,” said Assemblymember Frazier. “As a member of the Assembly Veterans Committee, I also value Shelter Inc.’s commitment to veterans and their families. Shelter, Inc. works to keep Contra Costa County’s veterans from becoming homeless and helps those who are homeless to find and keep permanent housing.”

The purpose of the Emergency Solutions Grants Program’s is to support programs that help eliminate homelessness by assisting individuals and families in achieving economic and social independence. Shelter, Inc. offers programs to both prevent and end the cycle of homelessness. It also provides affordable housing.
