by ECT

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Jim Frazier, D-Oakley, is pleased to announce that $5.2 million
in Veterans Housing and Homeless Prevention Program funds have been awarded for a senior housing project being planned for Antioch.

Tabora Gardens Senior Apartments is expected to provide 84 apartments for low-income seniors age 62 and up. Five of those units will be set aside for people with HIV/AIDS; five for residents with a mental illness; and 33 will be designated for veterans, 12 of which will be for chronically homeless vets.

The $27 million project is being developed by Satellite Affordable Housing Associates, a nonprofit public
benefit corporation with headquarters in Berkeley. Construction of the apartments, to be located at 3557
Tabora Drive, is expected to begin after June 2016.

The funds were awarded by the Department of Housing and Community Development, CalVet and the
California Housing Finance Agency.

“This kind of public-private partnership really benefits communities such as Antioch,” said Frazier.

“Apartment projects like Tabora Gardens help ensure that our veterans, our seniors and those who struggle with illness have a decent place to live as they grow older. I’m glad the state has seen the value of this
investment.”

Frazier represents the 11th Assembly District, which includes Antioch.
