Asm Frazier Statement: Autonomous Vehicles Must be Tested Properly to Protect the Public

by ECT

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Discovery Bay), chairman of the Assembly Transportation Committee, issued the following statement today after reports that a self-driving vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in Arizona Sunday.

“My heart goes out to the family of the victim. Unlike Arizona, California has taken a safety driven approach when developing autonomous vehicle regulations. Autonomous vehicles have the potential to save thousands of lives a year, but they have to be tested properly to protect the public. My Committee plans on having a hearing in May that will focus on the safety of these vehicles.”

Assemblymember Frazier represents the 11th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Antioch, Bethel Island, Birds Landing, Brentwood, Byron, Collinsville, Discovery Bay, Fairfield, Isleton, Knightsen, Locke, Oakley, Pittsburg (partial), Rio Vista, Suisun City, Travis AFB, Vacaville and Walnut Grove.

Why don’t you wait until we learn all the facts of the accident. The conclusion of the accident investigators was that the pedestrian was at fault not the vehicle.

Anything for a DEM to get his name out there spreading fake news.
