Asm. Cristina Garcia Responds to Allegations of Misconduct, Takes Unpaid Leave

by ECT

(Sacramento) – Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) today released the following statement in response to allegations of sexual misconduct:

“Upon reflection of the details alleged, I am certain I did not engage in the behavior I am accused of.  However, as I’ve said before, any claims about sexual harassment must be taken seriously, and I believe elected officials should be held to a higher standard of accountability.  Therefore, I am voluntarily taking an immediate unpaid leave from my position in the State Assembly, including any accompanying committee assignments, so as not to serve as a distraction or in any way influence the process of this investigation.  I implore the Assembly Rules Committee to conduct a thorough and expeditious investigation, and I look forward to getting back to work on behalf of my constituents and for the betterment of California.”

On Thursday, a news story broke by POLITICO claims that California Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia groped a legislative staffer in 2014 and made improper advances at a prominent lobbyist.

After the allegations were made public, Senator Connie Leyva, who is vice chair of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus called for Garcia to take an immediate leave of absence.

I guess women are just as good at denying sexual harassment as men. Wow.

Another hypocrite politician that wants to create laws for we her constituents that think she knows what’s best for “the little people”. Ever notice how well fed freshmen politicians look after their first two years in office? I count De Leon in with that bunch, amongst others. Must be tough to commute to work by plane or limo. You clearly understand how we the sheeple live. All you understand is votes; and I am always amazed by how the voters blindly fill in the ovals come elections.

Garcia herself is one of the “little people.” She’s 5 feet tall.
