Here is a look at this weekends events across East Contra Costa County.

Saturday, April 29

8:00 am – Brentwood Farmers Market
The 2017 season will run every Saturday through November 18  located at First Street between Oak and Chestnut.


9:00 am: Pittsburg Civic Pride Day
City of Pittsburg and Pittsburg Unified School District Team-up for Clean-up on Civic Pride Day

Civic Pride Day is a new annual event developed by the City of Pittsburg and Pittsburg Unified School District. The goal of the event is to bring community volunteers together, to help remove litter from nearby parks, schools, and the downtown waterfront area.

Five Locations

  • 4150 Harbor Street, Riverview Park:
  • Bayside Drive Waterfront,
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Junior High:
  • Terminus of Carion Court,
  • Rancho Medanos Junior High School: 2301 Range Road, and
  • Civic Park: Meet at Flagpoles.

10:00 am: National Prescription Take Back

On Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 10 AM to 2 PM, local law enforcement in Contra Costa County and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Bring your pills for disposal at the following sites. The DEA cannot accept needles or sharps, only pills, patches, and liquids sealed in their original container. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

  • Antioch Police Department (300 L Street, Antioch)
  • Brentwood Police Department (9100 Brentwood Boulevard, Brentwood)
  • Office of the Sheriff Delta Station (210 O’Hara Avenue, Oakley)
  • Pittsburg Police Department (65 Civic Ave, Pittsburg)

11:00 am: Delta Discoveries at Big Break Regional Shoreline
Discover the wonders of the Delta through hands on arts and crafts activities! Each week we will explore different wetland wonders. No registration required; Drop-in program.

Located at Big Break Visitor Center at the Delta at 81 Big Break Road, Oakley, CA.


5:00 pm: Oakley Chamber’s Wine and Whiskey Soiree
Oakley Chamber of Commerce Wine and Whiskey Soiree event at La Grande Wedding & Event Center on April 29 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

According to the Chamber, .TLCakes is providing desserts, Crosstown 5 will be jammin’ some great tunes to go along with wine and whiskey tastings. The event will also feature a gun raffle (donated by Hook, Line & Sinker), along with silent auction items. There will also be a Cigar Bar hosted by St. Claire Cigars.

Food tastings – Chocolates, Cheese, Olive oils, Vinegars from local companies.

The six division show this Saturday night at Antioch Speedway should be a good one.  Wingless Sprints, Late Models, A-Mods, B-Mods and Hobby Stocks

Adult 13+ Ticket: $15
Seniors 65+ Ticket: $10
Active Military Ticket: $10
Kids 6-12 Ticket: $10
Kids 5 and Under Ticket: Free
Family Pass (2 Adults, 2 Kids): $40


Sunday, April 30

12:00 pm: Antioch Rivertown Historical Homes Tour

On April 30, you are invited to participate in the Rivertown Historic Homes Tour in an effort to fund raise to benefit the Rivertown Town Square between 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The Rivertown Town Square Initiative aims to be an option for the City of Antioch to re-attract local residents and to entice others from surrounding areas to frequent the downtown is to provide an activity/event center which can offer activities of interest to the community at large. Tickets are $25.

1:00 pm: Relay for Life Ice Cream Social  (Brentwood)
Shadow Lakes Golf Club
401 West Country Club Drive

Join the Brentwood Relay for Life as they host their Survivor Ice Cream Social which will feature ice cream, games, prizes, music and more.  Registered Survivors can pick up their Survivor Relay for Life T-Shirt at Social! Need not be registered to participate in the event.

3:00 pm: El Campanil Theatre Presents in Concert William Florian
Those Were The Days
Starring Former Member of The New Christy Minstrels William Florian

William Florian, former singer of pioneering folk act The New Christy Minstrels, takes you on a trip down memory lane with the songs you love in Those Were the Days: (The Spirit & Songs of the ’60s). In addition to NCM hits like “Green, Green” and “This Land Is Your Land,” Florian performs favorites from Peter, Paul and Mary, John Denver, Pete Seeger, The Mamas & the Papas and Bob Dylan, plus some uplifting original tunes. In this intimate show at Antioch’s El Campanil Theatre, Florian will also entertain with behind-the-scenes stories that’ll bring to life that dynamic decade.
