April 21 – 27: Antioch Police Briefs

According to Antioch City Manager Steve Duran, the Antioch Police Department had 1,820 calls for service between April 21-27.

Of those calls, 72 arrests were made. 32 arrests were felony and 49 were misdemeanor. They also made 5-DUI arrest.

POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATES

 

  • On 4/27/16 at 11:55 pm, an officer observed a silver Kia parked in the roadway on Deer Valley Road @ Asilomar Drive. The officer conducted a suspicious vehicle stop and observed the driver, 34 year old Vincent Darrigo was asleep behind the wheel with the vehicle’s ignition turned off. The officer also observed next to the vehicle was a knocked down cross walk pole in the center median, fresh damage to
    the Darrigo’s vehicle, as well as fresh debris. Darrigo was contacted and had signs of being under the influence of alcohol. He was placed under arrest and transported to county jail. Darrigo told the officer he thought he was somewhere between San Leandro and San Ramon.

 

  • On 4/27/16 at 11:15pm, officers responded to the 800 block of “O” St. on a call of a physical altercation. While officers were on scene attempting to determine if a crime occurred, 25 year old Patrick Woods became non-compliant and was subsequently detained in handcuffs due to his aggressive nature. A search of Wood’s person revealed several bindles of suspected cocaine. Woods was arrested and cited out from APD for possession of a controlled substance. Both bindles tested positive for cocaine.

 

  • On 4/27/16 at 3:15 pm, 29 year old Adam Bertel was detained for shoplifting at Walmart and found to have a felony DUI warrant for his arrest. He was transported to the county jail.

 

  • On 4/27/16 at 9:18 am, while the victim was backing up and parking his silver Mercedes an unknown male walking on Mahogany Way opened fire on him. The suspect fired 5-6 times and struck the victim’s front windshield once. Afterwards, the suspect ran to a purple Audi sedan (with Oregon plates) and they fled towards Auto Center Dr. The victim was not hit. We did not locate any other victims or damaged property. The victim told officers that he did not recognize the shooter, but suspected the shooter was from Pittsburg.

 

  • On 4/27/16 at 2:24 am, an officer contacted 30 year old Joseph Rodregous in the 2700 block of Verne Roberts Cir. Dispatch advised that Rodregous had a warrant for robbery and was arrested without incident and sent to county jail.

 

  • On 4/26/16 at 2:39 pm, Kaiser on Sand Creek called after the victim arrived for treatment and reported being robbed and assaulted yesterday. Officers responded and contacted the victim at the hospital who said that he was in front of his mother’s house on Minta Ln. yesterday around 11:00 pm when he was approached by three unknown males. They punched him several times in the face and robbed him of his wallet and cash. The responsible were not known to the victim and fled the scene.

 

  • On 4/26/16 at 2:06 pm, the adult victim was walking home from school in the 600 block of Joseph Ave. when she saw a black two door car park on the side of the road in front of her. As she turned the corner, the suspect got out of the car and took the victim’s I-Phone 6. The suspect ran back towards his car and the victim gave chase. The suspect produced a handgun and told her to stay away. The suspect got in his vehicle and fled as the victim pounded on the trunk. Officers checked surveillance video in the area which contradicted some of the victim’s story. The suspect has not identified at this point.

 

  • On 4/26/16 at 12:04 pm, an officer was in the area of 2327 Buchanan when he observed two subjects in a vehicle and parked in the handicap stall. The officer approached the driver, 31 year old Tyrone Brown, who had marijuana on his lap with an electronic scale. He also had an open alcohol container in the vehicle. Officers found Brown was legally allowed to possess the marijuana but during the contact, Tyrone was found to be under the influence of alcohol and admitted to driving the car. He subsequently tested almost twice the legal limit on a Preliminary Alcohol Screening device and was arrested and booked in county jail. The passenger was interviewed and released on scene.

 

  • On 4/26/16 at 9:44 am, an officer conducted special checks in the 99 Cent Store parking lot on Somersville Rd. and contacted 29 year old Cameron Alexander to the rear of the business. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest and sent to county jail.

 

  • On 4/25/16 at 10:13 pm, 26 year old Martin Vargas was in the Jack-in-the-Box restaurant located at 2505 A St naked and had locked himself in the bathroom. Officers arrested Vargas without incident for being under the influence of a controlled substance and sent him to county jail.

 

  • On 4/25/16 at 8:28 pm, officers saw a stolen vehicle at Texas St. and ‘A’ St. They followed the vehicle onto west bound Hwy 4. At Somersville Rd. a second unit joined them and a short pursuit began to Loveridge Rd. The stolen vehicle became disabled and the male driver, 33 year old Sean Rosevear, and female passenger, 28 year old Chantel Cardoza, fled on foot. The officers found Cardoza, who tried to make up a story that she had been car jacked by Rosevear. Rosevear was not located, but officer were able to get him identified. Cardoza was arrested and later released pending further investigation.

 

  • On 4/25/16 at 5:26 pm, a traffic officer was monitoring traffic flow at Buchanan Rd. and Del Oro Cir. when he observed an Infinity sedan driven by 29 year old Chukudike Ajiduah drive by at a high rate of speed. The officer caught up with the vehicle and conducted an enforcement stop near Kelly Moore Paint on Contra Loma Blvd. As the officer approached the vehicle on foot, Ajiduah sped away north bound. Ajiduah collided into another vehicle near Hwy 4 and then lost control. Ajiduah drove up onto the sidewalk and took out a Tri Delta bus stop, a city street light, and then a cyclone fence belonging to the Fontana Apartments. Ajiduah fled from the vehicle on foot but was detained without incident by responding officers in front of 2221 “L” St. Ajiduah was on probation and he was booked at county jail.

 

  • On 4/25/16 at 4:31 pm, 43 year old Demetrius Blair was east bound on E 19th St. on his bicycle at a high rate of speed and under the influence of alcohol. A UPS truck was traveling north bound on Evergreen St. Blair entered the intersection without stopping and collided into the side of the UPS truck. Blair displayed objective symptoms of intoxication and admitted to drinking. He was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Blair consented to a blood draw and was cite-released at the hospital for DUI.

 

  • James CayabyabOn 4/25/16 at 1:13 pm, Pittsburg PD called APD dispatch advising they had an armed robbery of the Cricket Wireless on Buchanan Rd. in Pittsburg and a citizen was following the suspect vehicle on Buchanan Rd toward Antioch. The vehicle parked near Mission Dr. and Buchanan Rd. and the main suspect, 26 year old James Cayabyab fled from the car. Pittsburg officers caught James who was still armed with the black handgun with a laser site and the stolen cash. The blue Hyundai Sonata fled and was stopped in the old Food Maxx parking lot. The driver was 24 year old Stephanie Lara. Pittsburg PD took all subjects into custody and no further assistance was needed by APD units.

 

  • On 4/25/16 at 7:06 am, officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of W 6th St. for an unknown male subject sleeping inside a truck. Officers made contact with 23 year old Michael Clark. He was found to have three warrants for his arrest and was booked into county jail.

 

  • On 4/25/16 at 3:17 at, the was inside his residence in the 5400 block of Summerfield Dr. when he heard voices inside his residence that he did not recognize. He went downstairs to investigate and he was confronted by two subjects that demanded money, guns, and weed. The responsibles fled empty handed and were not located. The victim was not injured.

 

  • On 4/25/16 at 12:39 am, an adult female entered the Quik Stop in the 2700 block of W Tregallas Rd. armed with a handgun and tried to rob the store employee. The employee took the gun away from the female and she fled on foot. The female did not take anything from the store and the gun was a pellet gun. She was not located.

 

  • On 4/24/16 at 3:30 pm, officers responded to residence in the 4900 block of Cougar Peak Dr. where 19 year old Tracy Jackson’s mother called to report Jackson was acting strange and possibly under the influence of a narcotic. Officers arrived and contacted Jackson who was not under the influence, but was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant. Jackson was taken into custody without incident and booked into county jail.

 

  • On 4/23 16 at 10:54 pm, 20 year old Darvaughn Young was traveling east bound on Silverado Dr near Reseda Wy. when he lost control of his vehicle. Young drove into the front yard of 2113 Silverado Dr and collided into several parked vehicles in the driveway and into a side retaining wall. Officers contacted Young who was determined to be the driver. Young displayed objective symptoms of being intoxicated and tested over the legal limit on the preliminary alcohol screening device. Neither, Young or his passenger was injured as a result of the collision. Young’s passenger was also intoxicated and was transported to his residence by officers. Young was later transported to county jail after being medically cleared from the hospital.

 

  • On 4/23/16 at 10:50 pm, the victim was walking on the trail to the rear of 7-11 on Buchanan Rd. when a dark 4 door sedan stopped on Gentrytown Dr. in front of him. A male passenger exited the vehicle and pointed a firearm at the victim demanding his property. The victim gave the male his wallet and the responsible got back in the vehicle which fled south bound on Gentrytown Dr. An area canvass for witness and video met with negative results.

 

  • On 4/23/16 at 10:19 pm, officers were dispatched to the 5200 block of Feather Way on a report of a large fight in the street. While officers were en-route dispatch advised some of the subjects were armed with tasers and one subject possibly was armed with a gun. Upon arrival, 19 year old Jade Busby was contacted in the front yard. Officers attempted to question Busby about the fight, however she was uncooperative. Busby displayed objective symptoms of public intoxication and became aggressive with officers on scene. Officers located blood drops on the sidewalk and on the neighbor’s vehicle. Contact was made at the front door and the officers were met with approximately 8-10 angry and uncooperative occupants. A welfare check inside the home was done. Inside the home, an adult male was located and found to have been pepper sprayed. This male advised they were having a party at the house and several unknown subjects arrived whom they did know. The unknown subjects became aggressive after comments were made about the women in the home. An unknown male pepper sprayed the victim and fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim declined medical attention. Busby was transported to county jail for public intoxication.

 

  • On 4/23/16 at 4:02 pm, officers were dispatched to Kmart on E 18th St. for a report of a shoplifter in-custody. Upon arrival, loss prevention agents informed officers that 42 year old Ricardo Trimor was seen getting in/out of a Honda in the parking lot. Loss prevention continued to watch Trimor as he entered the store. Trimor selected various clothing items and exit without paying. Officers checked the Honda, which showed to be a stolen vehicle out of San Francisco. Trimor was found to have a key in his pocket that started the vehicle. Officers interviewed Trimor who admitted to stealing the car in San Francisco and stated he found the car with the key already inside the ignition. Trimor was transported to county jail for auto theft and petty theft.

 

  • On 4/23/16 at 10:47 am, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on 33 year old Bradley Owen and found him to have a Ramey Warrant out of Walnut Creek for burglary and possession of stolen property. Owen is also a suspect in a major credit card and identity theft ring throughout northern California. Owen was transported to county jail where he was interviewed by a Walnut Creek detective and an Antioch detective.

 

  • On 4/23/16 at 12:56 am, officers in the downtown area heard several gunshots coming from the Crestview Dr. and Aster Dr. area. During an area check, 16 spent casing were found along a 50 yard section of Crestview Dr. near the park. A resident reported hearing the shots and a vehicle speeding off. No victims were located during an extensive area check. It is suspected a subject drove through the area and fired the rounds off from a car into the air as they drove by. Area hospitals were alerted. No further information at this time.

 

  • On 4/23/16 at 12:51 am, officers were on routine patrol in the area of W 11th St. and Diamond St. when they located a stolen Honda being driven by 31 year old Chris Martin. A vehicle stop was made and Martin yielded. The front passenger, 40 year old Selema Almazan, was found to have a warrant for her arrest. Martin and Almazan were sent to county jail.

 

  • On 4/23/16 at 12:21 am, an officer located a stolen Honda being driven by 34 year old Natasha Lemons in the area of E. Tregallas Rd. and Garrow Dr. He followed the vehicle until assist units arrived. Lemons turned onto Sweeney Road and stopped the vehicle. She was taken into custody without incident and booked into county jail for auto theft.

 

  • On 4/22/16 at 10:22 pm, officers responded with medical personnel for the report of a collision at Buchanan Rd. and Entrada Cir. with reported injuries and a vehicle into a house. The driver, identified as 35 year old Ramon Rocha, was being detained by witnesses after he attempted to flee on foot. Rocha had been driving westbound on Buchanan Rd. when he struck another vehicle occupied by two people. Rocha’s vehicle then struck a city light pole in the median. Rocha backed up and then attempted to flee, but lost control and struck a residence. He then attempted to flee on foot but witnesses held him down until officers arrived. The occupants of the vehicle Rocha struck were transported to local hospitals with varying injuries considered to be minor. Rocha was found to be extremely intoxicated. He was injured from the collision as well and was treated at a local hospital for a broken hand and separated shoulder. He was later booked into county jail.

 

  • On 4/22/16 at 9:23 pm, officers responded 2901 Elizabeth Ln. to attempt contact with 48 year old Edward Dutra who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Dutra attempted to flee out of the side garage door. He was contacted and immediately began fighting with officers. He was eventually handcuffed and immediately became cooperative. Dutra was cleared at a local hospital and found to have no visible injuries. He was booked into county jail.

 

  • On 4/22/16 at 1:56 pm, an employee from America’s Tire located at 2402 San Jose Dr. called APD dispatch and reported that two males were at the business that were wanted by a US Postal Inspector for using someone’s identification to purchase tires at the business. 47 year old Christopher Livingston and 47 year old Christopher Hurst were contacted at the business. Hurst was found to have a warrant for fraud. A US Postal Inspector was contacted and it was determined that there was probable cause to arrest Livingston and Hurst for identity theft. Hurst and Livingston were transported to county jail.

 

  • On 4/22/16 at 10:33 am, a male called 911 from a disconnected cellular phone and reported that he saw a male walk into 2102 Dogwood Way with a gun in his waistband and the male started threatening to kill residents inside of the house. Several units made contact at the residence and everyone at the residence denied anyone came in with a gun. Officers were allowed to walk through the house and 24 year old Harold McKneely was found smoking in the garage. McKneely had two warrants for his arrest including one from 4/6/2016 where he assaulted an APD officer. McKneely was sent to county jail. The man with a gun call was unfounded.

 

  • On 4/22/16 at 9:02 am, officers were dispatched to 2201 San Jose Dr. regarding follow-up from a previous assault. 20 year old Brooke Baughman was contacted at the apartment and found to have two warrants for her arrest. She was transported to county jail.

 

  • On 4/22/16 at 2:22 am, officers responded to the report of a vehicle into a tree in the area of Sycamore Dr. and Spanos St. Officers found 20 year old Rosendo Acosta sitting on the ground next to his wrecked car, which was in the bushes and crashed into a tree near the east gate to the Riverstone Apartments. Acosta was found to be intoxicated and uninjured. He was transported to a local hospital and later cite released after consenting to a blood draw. There was no damage to the tree, but Acosta’s vehicle was totaled.

 

  • On 4/21/16 at 9:27 pm, officers were working directed enforcement in the area of FoodMaxx, CVS and the surrounding area on Delta Fair Blvd. Officers contacted 67 year old James Wedding who was setting up camp for the night. During a consent search of Wedding, officers located suspected methamphetamine on his person. Wedding was issued a citation and released at the scene. Wedding packed his belongings and moved along for the night.

 

  • On 4/21/16 at 3:55 pm, officers were on routine patrol in the area of the Amtrak station on Fist St. and saw 55 year old Larry Levi in the area. Officers recognized Levi from previous contacts and discovered he had a felony warrant for his arrest. Levi was taken into custody without incident and later sent to county jail.

 

  • On 4/21/16 at 9:33 am, Contra Costa County Fire Investigators were on Delta Fair Blvd. when they saw 51 year old John Tonsall who they had probable cause to arrest for arson. They attempted to take Tonsall into custody and Tonsall struck one of the fire investigators in the face with a closed fist. The investigators called for APD for assistance two officers responded. When they arrived on scene Tonsall was still not in custody. Tonsall pushed one of the officers, who took Tonsall to the ground. Tonsall was taken into custody and transported to county jail. There were no injuries.
