Antioch: Vehicle Takes Out Power Pole, Contra Loma Shutdown

by ECT

At 6:16 pm Sunday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle that struck a power pole on Contra Loma Blvd near San Carlos Drive in the City of Antioch.

It was reported that a subject was still in the vehicle and was possibly trapped with wires down on the car.

When firefighters arrived on scene, the male had exited the vehicle and began walking away from the vehicle. Firefighters said the male appeared dazed and were attempting to keep him on the sidewalk as he walked away.

He was later transported to a local hospital.

The incident also knocked out power to about 400 homes.

According to CONFIRE, it was anticipated that southbound Contra Loma Blvd. between St. Francis and Putnam Street would be closed throughout the night as PG&E will need to replace the pole and transformer.
