Antioch: Two Wounded in Evening Shooting

by ECT

Antioch PD 1a

Antioch Police responded to gun shots fired at 6:45 pm yesterday on the 2300 block of Manzanita leaving two victims  shot.

Both victims ages 26 and 27 were transported to a local hospital.  Although the victims are expected to survive, they are  are being uncooperative with Antioch Police regarding the incident.

According to Lt. Diane Aguinaga, 10 officers responded to the shooting and were greeted by a crowd of about 50 people. The crowd was deemed hostile and one 30-year-old male was arrested. It is being reported that the crowd shouted at officers, tried to prevent them from getting to a victim and even fought with officers.

At this time, it’s unknown if the incident was gang related or related to the shooting earlier in the day.  I will update this story as more information is made available. Anyone with information regarding last nights shooting should contact Antioch Police.

Wendy’s Robbed

In a separate incident yesterday, there was a robbery reported around 3:40 p.m. at Wendy’s located on the 1800 block of A Street, Antioch police said.

On a side note, no group of people should ever approach police offers like that, totally unacceptable!

Agree but a large number of people seem to believe that they are above the law, can do what ever the hell they want, can’t/won’t follow directions, take issue with being given an order to remove themselves from the scene, etc., etc., etc., The complete lack of respect of authority puts LEO in danger everyday, but especially in crowds like this. At one point last night, the dispatcher asked if Brentwood and Oakley needed to be contacted for help. Antioch PD was able to handle it but……………

All the more reason why Antioch needs more police. Its become a war zone and antioch needs to get its act together.

This same stuff was going on before the cuts. We have been a war zone for years. That is not to say we don’t need more officers. It just takes time, a lot more time than it took to lay the officers off.
