At 2:50 pm Sunday, two people suffered serious injuries after their vehicle struck a tree while traveling on Hillcrest Avenue near Sterling Hill Drive in Antioch.
According to radio traffic, firefighters arrived on scene and stated a 21-year-old male was suffering from multiple fractures while a 19-year-old female was suffering from an open skull fracture Two medical helicopters were immediately requested.
The incident occurred in the north bound direction where the vehicle hopped the curb and struck the tree. The 19-year-old female was transported by AMR to Williamson Ranch Park where REACH three transported her to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
The male, who was also the driver, was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
Their status is unknown as of 8:00 pm Sunday.
The Antioch Police Department are still investigating the crash and its unknown if speed was involved or if alcohol or drugs played a roll in the crash.
Editors Note:
While fire crews were working the crash scene, a female driver was observing the crash scene when she rear-ended an Antioch Police vehicle. There were no injuries in that minor crash.
