Antioch: Two Homes Damaged in 2-Alarm Fire

At 5:43 pm, Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to the 4800 block of Wexler Peak Way for a structure fire involving two homes.

According to Battalion Chief Pete Marshall, Fire Investigators determined that the fire started from the exterior in between the two homes along the common fence line and then spread into both homes.

According to Marshall, while significant damage was sustained to one home and moderate damage to the other, fire crews were successful in salvaging much of the personal belongings inside the homes as well as rescuing two dogs

A total of 41 fire personnel were on scene which included East Contra Costa County Fire District, San Ramon Valley Fire, Contra Costa Fire/EMS Medic  8 & 81. Antioch police and PG&E were also on scene.

There were no injuries to Firefighters or civilians.  Fire crews were on scene for 3 hours, 25 minutes.

ECT. Is there a cut and paste mistake in the responding parties to this fire? After all the struggle over every department not having enough staff to respond to emergencies, the article leaves me baffled.

No there is not. Those were the responding agencies. Keep in mind, ECCFPD only has 2 engines it can send at most due to aid agreement. So outside agencies were required.

Come on? A fire that started outside the structures and on Wexler Peak? No open space for fire to spread. Who owned these properties? The police and PG&E request for support says pot house or worse a poppy house. Please investigate further. A much larger and important news may come of the investigation.
