Antioch: Small Brush Fire Possibly Started by Flare Gun

At 3:24 pm Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire on Oakley Road in the City of Antioch.

The fire was reported between Phillips Lane and Willow Avenue where brush and trees were on fire. Engine 53 (Oakley), happened to be at Lucky’s getting food for dinner when the call came in and were able to arrive on scene within minutes and began to make fire attack.

The fire was listed at a 20×20 foot fire which was handled by East Contra Costa Fire. Engine 88 arrived on scene to take a report along with Antioch Police.

According to a witness, the fire was started by a flare gun that was shot into the air which landed in the brush.

So, some scumbag shot the flare gun. That’s a deliberate act and I hope this idiot is found and arrested. This is arson!
