Antioch Set to Begin Food Truck Thursdays at Prewett Park Through October

by ECT

ANTIOCH, CA – On June 15, 2017, the City of Antioch will present a first of its kind Foodie Crew’s Food Truck Thursdays at the Antioch Community Center & Antioch Water Park parking lot. Seven trucks have been confirmed for this event. The lineup features five food trucks, one dessert truck, and one beer & wine truck. Expect a variety of gourmet food coming to Antioch’s southeast area.

This event is scheduled to take place every Thursday night from 5:00-9:00 p.m. through the end of September –possibly through the end of October 2017.

In addition to the food trucks, the event will have music and two Jumbo Jenga games to enjoy. In the coming weeks, a corn hole game and other family friendly activities will be added.

After seeing and experiencing successful food truck events throughout the Bay Area, United Bites Food Truck owner and local Antioch resident, Adam Gross, approached City staff with a vision of bringing a food truck event into his town. He selected the Antioch Community Center & Antioch Water Park parking lot for its visibility to the many southeast residents that travel Lone Tree Way.

Gross planned logistics and coordinated details with City staff to make sure the event launches successfully.

This is stupid, they should focus on promoting the restaurants that are already here since they seem to close every few months.

Nice going Antioch, way to conflict yourself with the Lone Tree Golf Course events every Thursday.

Really? A “cornhole” game?

Complete the application: Ben and Jim’s whine truck!

We don’t live in Antioch, so I really don’t care. I don’t eat off of food trucks, but I think they’re a good idea for others. Not everyone can afford to eat and TIP in a restaurant. Food trucks are for those who are looking for something cheap and convenient.

You must not have been to a food truck in the last 10 years. Food trucks these days are about the latest cooking trends (or sometimes resurrecting ethnic cuisines we rarely see). They aren’t cheap, but they are usually excellent quality.

Oh, and by the way, they take credit cards and have tip jars.

I have never seen a food truck that is “cheap”. However, I did go out there last night and at 7:30 it looked like a nice turn out. I didn’t buy anything. Parking was not ideal but there was police presence which I was glad to see. Fortunate the weather was nice. If the wind had been blowing it would have been awful. People set blankets in the grass and one truck had a couple of card tables. Other than that no seating.

Food trucks are “cheap” compared to restaurants, and they’re of very poor quality. That’s why they call them “roach coaches.” I wouldn’t trust food on a truck. Are they inspected by the county?

Realistically, nothing in today’s society is “cheap” especially in the Bay Area. I think “cheaper” is better wording. And you don’t have to tip. Don’t get me started on people who don’t tip.

Food trucks and fast food restaurants are cheaper, and more convenient. I don’t eat at either, but I used to.

You need to get out more Nick. These aren’t the roach coach variety. There are many different trucks offering fusion and a multitude of different cuisines. It is pretty common for cities to have a set place and time for them to congregate so people can get out and enjoy the food. Between snarky posts check it out for yourself…

I get out all the time. I haven’t eaten off food trucks since grad school. We eat healthy, and food truck food (including different cuisines) is garbage food off a truck. It’s unhealthy, whether you believe it or not.

Healthy food is served at home or restaurants that serve healthy food. Ever wonder why 2/3 of America is overweight or obese? Look at your eating habits.

You couldn’t pay me to eat off a food truck, but East County needs them. Look at the average resident.

You’re still stuck on the roach coach thing, huh? Your brain is vapor locked on the shitty roach coaches that play la cucaracha over the horn at job sites. These are not the trucks we are talking about bud. Gourmet trucks have been popular for a few years, but they are not the ones you refer to eating off of since grad school.

Here’s yet another link for you to see it for yourself…

You’re flat out wrong on this one dude!

Chum, you’re stupid. I don’t need your links. Enjoy obesity. Join a gym.

Looks like someone has a difficult time admitting when they are wrong, lol. Your version of the world is incredibly douchey Nick. Enjoy ur ignorance!

I AGREE WITH NICK. I buy from gourmet trucks, and it’s the reason I’m overweight. I don’t watch what I eat. I should eat fruit and vegetables like my fiancé – but oh well…LOL!

Chum Jun 17, 2017 - 11:26 pm

But in Nick’s world there are no gourmet food trucks, only job site roach coaches. Didn’t you read his drivel?
