Antioch: Sean Wright Set for Mayor’s Race, Files Paperwork

by ECT

Antioch, Calif. — Dr. Sean Wright, chiropractor and CEO of the Antioch Chamber of Commerce, officially turned in his candidate nomination papers Tuesday Morning becoming the first candidate to file for Mayor of the City of Antioch for the November 8 election.

“I’m excited to share my vision and message for Antioch over the next few months,” Wright said. “I’m tired of watching friends move away.  I want to utilize my leadership and communication skills to focus Antioch on Public Safety, Jobs and supporting our schools so that Antioch becomes the place where our friends want to live.”

Wright’s platform consists of three planks: Leadership, Public Safety, and Jobs.

Leadership: We elect leaders to make difficult decisions and fight for us. Antioch is challenged and needs a new direction: a leader who listens, collaborates, communicates and unifies behind a common vision. My experience and passion are best suited to help Antioch succeed.

Public Safety: Measure C funds are meant to reduce escalating crime and they are being misspent. 100 percent of Measure C money needs to hire police and code enforcement officers immediately. We’ve heard the talk, now we need the results.

Jobs: Antioch has expanded Highway 4, will extend E-BART, has access to multiple railroad lines, and a deep water port but no plan to create permanent high paying jobs. It must be easier for businesses to open in Antioch so people can live, work, play and worship in our community.

“I’m so excited to sign today and support Sean Wright for his run for Mayor of Antioch,” said Antioch resident Susan Martinez. “He is just the type of hardworking and smart leader our city so badly needs!”

“Sean is not a politician, he is a just a resident who cares about Antioch,” said Antioch resident Jose Solario. “The job he has done in transforming the Chamber of Commerce can only be described as amazing. With a track record for getting positive results, he is the ONLY choice for Antioch.”

“I support Sean Wright and his approach to serving in local Government,” said Antioch Community Advocate Terry Ramus. “Voters who desire responsive, problem-solving government would be wise to support Sean also. His candidacy for Mayor is about the people who live and work in Antioch. Finally!”

This man seems like the guy for the job! We don’t need morons like Harper who have ruined Antioch. We want our city back, from the thugs, section 8 losers, jobless, scumbags who commit crimes and make life harder for hard working tax payers of this town!!

East County reader Jul 20, 2016 - 3:48 pm

Good luck Sean.

It should be a breeze defeating Harper…a job he screwed up like no other. Seems to me that Wade Harper has left more than one job with some unanswered questions. Tracy PD, Glaziers office, Antioch and Im sure there are others. After all, a leopard doesn’t change his spots. Sooner or later Wade needs to look in the mirror and see that he has not been a good fit anywhere.

Harper can’t run, hes already served two terms!!

Harper has not served two terms. He was elected as Mayor in 2012.

Thats right! Thanks! But glad he wont win!

Julio Jul 20, 2016 - 4:45 pm

He could serve 5 terms if he was elected! God help us. Remember Harper put up some almost decent numbers during the supervisors race. Those votes probably came from Antioch so assume he has those votes in place. The YARD people need to launch a hell fire campaign against Rocha, Harper and Wilson and make it stick. That is their best plan of action. NO signs everywhere!

Mr. Littleton Jul 20, 2016 - 6:42 pm

Julio that is BAD info you are putting out there. Wade Harper didn’t do so well in Antioch. I am positive that Diane Burgis won the vote in Antioch hands down.

Diane Burgis will win the Supervisors seat in November and Sean should easily win the Mayors seat. It’s not rocket science.

Mr. Littleton Jul 20, 2016 - 6:43 pm

Oh and I agree. Harper, Rocha and Wilson ALL need to go!!!!

R. J b. Jul 20, 2016 - 10:33 pm

I’ve said it many many times.

Wilson = parrot
Harper = king flimflam
Rocha = out of touch with reality
Tiscareno = clown shoes
Ogorchick = ok

With all due respect RJB. You may not like these people’s actions on the council, but they are great people. Belittling them on the web achieves what exactly?

R. J. B. Jul 21, 2016 - 8:42 am

With all due respect Mike, I am expressing my opinion just like everyone else here, including you.

My opinion is based off their performance as our leaders. I’m sure they are good people outside their positions; however, they have a job to do and in my opinion, it has been done poorly.

Hey Mike it’s called freedom of speech buddy! Just like your opinion is that they are great people, we think the opposite and have the right to this! Don’t be a liberal hypocrite buddy, your true colors are showing! Back off!

Really Mike,you took my comment down? Does the truth hurt? Have you succumbed to the dirty money crowd. I really thought more of you.

So can someone tell me if this man is a Republican or Democrat??

Julio Jul 21, 2016 - 12:02 pm

Mr. Littleton, if the people at the County would give us the information where Mr. Harper’s votes came from we would know the answer. Meanwhile I am going by what I was told by people who work with these counts, because he is not well liked or well known anywhere else in the supervisors district. That leaves his votes coming from Antioch. Shame on them.

The position is still up for grabs by Barr and Burgis. Going to be very close.

Mr. Littleton Jul 22, 2016 - 1:47 am

Julio,

The votes and where they came from are public record. Just call the elections department, they can provide you with the numbers you are looking for.

You will find that Diane Burgis won the popular vote in Antioch. (Based on the voting results Diane Burgis should easily beat Barr in November). *Harper did not win any city or any unincorporated area. Barr’s only advantage was that he put up a lot of signs and most voters had no information about his history or his political record. He hasn’t been very fiscally responsible, he has been very pro growth and has no actual leadership achievements. Most people that I asked, had never heard of him prior to the election. Those that did, didn’t have anything nice to say about him, (at least my friends from Brentwood). I predict more information will circulate as we get closer to November. We need a real self starter, a real leader and Barr isn’t either one.

I doubt if Harper will hold the not his seat as Mayor. If you ask me, his career in politics is over almost as quickly as it began. I doubt if many people will miss him once he is gone and Antioch begins to “recover”. Time will tell.

And the Vote for TRUMP guy needs to look up freedom of speech. Obviously he or she doesn’t know how it applies. Websites are private and not subject to the amendment. You need to read and fully understand the amendment if you are going to try to use it! Nice try though.

Little , you appear to know it all. Future, past, and present. What’s your game ? Who are you working for ?

Mr. Littleton Jul 22, 2016 - 7:34 pm

Don’t work for no one. Just like to do my own research and stay abreast of things. It really isn’t that difficult to drop adime, make a call or two and get the real information. A few people here should try it.

Its odd to me that you think I’m actually working for someone. What’s up with that???

the knower Jul 22, 2016 - 8:09 pm

“Waldo”
You ask too many questions for the same old guy that always has a chip on his shoulder and constantly displays an inferiority complex. You should consider your own issues rather than those of others. Besides, your before your punctuation gave you away a long ago. Stupid should hurt.

Walley Jul 24, 2016 - 11:45 am

2 pees in a pod know & little,
Obviously you are on a mission to discredit and push your agenda. This can only mean you work for someone’s campaign.

Your alias attacks are foolish and childish. People can read these things you know.

I am glad Mr. Wright is running for Mayor. I hope more candidates will step forward and we can finally elect someone who will help increase our quality of life.

I am tired of this city rolling out the red carpet for the ghetto criminals. It’s time to increase the quality of life for the average hard working tax paying residents of Antioch.

Is he a Republican or Democrat!

Phule Me Twice Jul 22, 2016 - 4:44 pm

What’s the difference? It’s a non-partisan office.

Walley Jul 24, 2016 - 11:36 am

Mr. Wright is a good guy and he supports Barr for Supervisor. That is good enough for me. Crime and corruption should be reined in. These ghetto criminals were let in by the current regime of politicians. Enough already.
