Antioch Police Take Third Place in Annual SWAT Fitness Challenge

by ECT

On July 14, the Antioch Police Department participated in the San Leandro Police Department Swat Fitness Challenge.

Antioch Police took third place overall behind Sacramento Police and Torance Police.

“I am extremely proud of our team and their dedication.  We placed 3rd in a group of 42 teams which is outstanding.   We competed against some full time SWAT teams and still held our own.  Our team is amazing,” said Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando.

The event requires 4 SWAT team members to complete 6 consecutive events in a single day. These events include water challenges, running, crossfit style exercises and shooting. The event helps raise funds for the George Mark Children’s House

Overall, 42 teams completed with winners that included:

  • Best Shooting Team – Oakland PD
  • Tactical Medicine Award – Central County SWAT

About George Mark Childrens House

George Mark Children’s House is a nonprofit organization based in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. As the first freestanding pediatric palliative care center to open in the United States, George Mark Children’s House has been a leader in the pediatric palliative care movement since its inception in 2004.

George Mark Children’s House exists to serve families with children and young adults who have a serious medical illness and who are seeking family-centered medical care that emphasizes quality of life in a compassionate, supportive atmosphere. We are an extension of your own home: a place where kids can be kids and families can be families.

We bridge the gap between hospital and home, offering safe, excellent medical care in the comfort and warmth of a home-like setting for patients who do not need the resources of a full children’s hospital.
