The Antioch Police Department is currently accepting applications for our Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program. The recruitment is open until April 21, 2014. Anyone who has ever considered giving back to their community will find the Antioch Police Department VIPS program is an excellent way to form a partnership with other trained volunteers to enhance and support the department by freeing up officers and staff for higher priority duties.

The VIPS program was started in 2001 and to date, volunteers have dedicated thousands of hours of service to the police department. Our goal is to place volunteers in rewarding activities which utilize their experience, interests and talents. Some of those activities may include:

  • Clerical and Administrative Support
  • School and Park Patrol
  • Traffic Control
  • Special Events
  • Abandoned Auto Abatement
  • Radar Trailer Placement
  • Vacation House Checks
  • Parking Enforcement
  • Illegal Sign Abatement

To apply, please visit the City of Antioch website at www.ci.antioch.ca.us and go to the Police Department link. Open the VIPS tab, where an application and questionnaire can be printed.

VIPS are provided distinctive uniforms and patrol vehicles. They act as additional “ eyes and ears” for the Antioch Police Department. Part of a VIPS training will include a volunteer academy taught in-house at the Antioch Police Department. Please visit our website to learn more and find out about the requirements to join the VIPS!
