Antioch Police Pursuit Ends With Suspected Thief Jumping into Delta

Around 7:00 pm Monday, Antioch Police spotted a stolen vehicle where a 21-year-old male attempted to flee police and eventually jumped into the Delta before Police caught and arrested the man.

Antioch Police took David Currier, 21-year-old transient, into custody after coming to shore and pulling him from the water. He was arrested on suspicious of possession a stolen vehicle and running from police.

According to Sgt. Tony Morefield, officers first spotted Currier on D Street and tried to conduct a traffic stop which pulled away. During the chase, top speeds reached 80 mph on his way to the Bridgehead Marina.

Currier got out of his vehicle and jumped in the water. Morefield stated he was only in the water”a short time” before he was pulled out and arrested.

No one was injured in the incident but a parked car was hit during the chase. The stolen vehicle was a Acura Integra.

Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office is now reviewing the charges.

This guy needs to stay off the street this is not the first time he has stolen a car he is a low life meth head that needs serious help
