Antioch Police Chief Reports Crime is Down 9% for First Half of 2015

On Tuesday, Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando reported to the City Council that Part 1 Crime is down 9.1% when comparing January-June of 2015 to 2014.

The City has seen 1 less homicide (2 total) along with 13-less robberies (135) and 19-less aggravated assaults (219) when compared to last year. Overall, violent crime is being reported as down 7.6%.

Although the Chief is reporting a drop in property crime by 9.4%, they did see an increase in auto thefts.

The chief also reported that between January-June of 2015, they have made a total of 2,426 arrests, up 398 arrests when compared to last year.

APD-Slide-3The police department is also reporting a 4.5% increase in calls for service, however, Priority 1 calls are down 0.3% while Priority 5 calls have increased 29.5%.

In total, the police have received 41,347 calls for service. At this time last year, the police had 39,554 calls.

Officer response time has also improved with an officer responding on average within 10:21 minutes when compared to 10:36 last year.

 

During its Crime Suppression Details, the City has held 34 operations which netted 151 cases, 175 arrests, 9 guns seized and 935 enforcement contacts.

The Chief also reported that its currently authorized to have 102 sworn positions, however, they are staffed with 88 full-time positions. He highlighted although they have 14 vacancies, two recruits began the academy in May and are set to graduate in November.

Sorry but these numbers are laughable at best since APD does not bother to respond to 50% of the crime that goes on. Never met a police department that gets to pick and choose what it wants to do. Worst police department ever.
