Antioch Police Chief Explains Thursday’s Multi-Agency Operation

by ECT

I received many inquiries regarding the multi-agency operation that occurred in the City of Antioch last night. For clarification, Antioch PD hosted the detail which involved 47 officers from 14 different cities within the county.

The focus of the night was to locate stolen vehicles and the individuals who are stealing them. The below stats show the results of these hard working officers:

  • Recovery of 3 occupied stolen vehicles
  • Recovery of 8 unoccupied stolen vehicles
  • Impound of 1 vehicle for altered VIN
  • 3 arrests for stolen vehicles
  • 2 felony arrests
  • 2 misdemeanor arrests
  • 9 warrant arrests
  • 176 enforcement stops
  • 14 citations issued
  • 5 vehicle impounds
  • 17 probation/parole searches

I would like to thank our allied agencies for their assistance in working to make our community safer.

Sincerely,

Chief Allan Cantando

This is great! Now we need a vehicle check on Hillcrest Avenue……..and a left turn light on Sterling Hills Drive for all of the parents taking kids to school.

Because we’re still as understaffed as we were in 2013 despite Measure C & Measure O, the police dept isn’t responding to calls in a timely manner and only accomplished feats like the ones listed above by utilizing the resources of a multitude of other agencies

Thanks to Antioch PD for orchestrating this effort and many thanks to all the different agencies for recognizing the need in Antioch. Hopefully this wasn’t a one-time event but will be part of an ongoing operation that will work to put the element that much more on guard.
