Antioch Police Arrest Man After Shots Fired, Officer Struck by Vehicle

On September 13 at approximately 3:17 pm, Officers from the Antioch Police Department located a stolen Mercedes parked on Plymouth Lane off Hillcrest with a subject getting into the vehicle. That subject was later identified as Ryan Kary (27 years old) out of Lafayette.

Officers converged on the vehicle and attempted to take Kary into custody. While ordering Kary out of the car, he put the car in reverse and struck an Officer who was out of his vehicle.

ryan-anthony-karyThe Officer drew his firearm and fired shots into the vehicle. With the Mercedez now backed into the Officer’s vehicle, Kary indicated he was giving up. Kary was pulled from the vehicle and further resisted being taken into custody.

After a brief struggle Kary was taken into custody without further incident. Kary was treated and released on scene for minor injuries sustained during his struggle with officers. The

Officer struck by the vehicle Kary was driving showed no immediate sign of injury.

Nobody was struck by the gunshots. Kary will be booked into the Contra Costa County Jail on charges to include Auto Theft and Assault with a Deadly Weapon on an Officer.
