The Antioch Police Activities League’s 2013 Jr. Giants Baseball Season has come to an end after 6-weeks of games where participation climbed over 600 kids.
Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando explained on opening day back on July 8 the purpose of the league was to keep kids busy with an activity over the summer, learn about baseball, and have fun. He also noted that the league is run by volunteers and coaches make what they tried to achieve possible.
“The involvement of the parents and coaching is vital because without them, it wouldn’t be possible no matter how much we organize this,” explained Cantando. “I think you deserve a round of applause because as we continue to go through this program its imperative that all parents show up and support their kids. This is not a competitive program; it’s a time for bonding with the family and a time for the community to see the very positive things going on in the community.”
As they go into the off season, they will begin raising funds for next year so they do not have to turn away nearly 200 kids. Keep your eye out for their annual golf tournament fundraiser this September and for those looking to donate to a good cause, they are looking for sponsors for the event.

Thank you for being the ONLY media to actually promote youth baseball. You have been a huge asset to ECLL and PAL baseball leagues. Keep up the awesome work and hope to have you out there next season promoting the kids.
Awsome job Antioch PD for putting on a wonderful program!
September 14 is the PAL Golf Tournament. Please see the police department web site for information. This is a great fund raiser for all the PAL events and other plans PAL has for our children.
