Antioch: One Killed in Officer Involved Shooting

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department are currently investigating an officer involved shooting on Hillcrest Avenue and Wildflower that left one man dead around 4:40 pm Tuesday evening.

Although details are sparse at this time (and the details may change), its being reported that the man was going at a high speed in the opposite direction of traffic and came to a stop after hitting vehicles and ended up on dirt. The man then got out his vehicle and ran. He then began shooting at police who then returned fire and killed the suspect.

Several bullet casings are in the area which has blocked off traffic in both directions as police continue to investigate. No police officers were were injured in the incident.

According to one witness who wished to remain anonymous as he was headed to the store says he was nearly hit by the man who was driving at a high speed on Hillcrest.

“He came at the other side of the road blowing through the light and hit another car. It then spun him into the dirt and he took off running. I didn’t see the shooting, but I did see him run on foot. When I came around, he was on the ground with blood and bullet holes as they were trying to revive him,” said the witness.

At 6:06 pm, Antioch Police sent out an email stating there had been an officer involved shooting and they are currently working a joint investigation with the DA. An official press release will be released in the near future.

Another reason why I come here for my news. This is up when no one else has the information. Great work and I feel bad for the victims family, but Antioch PD had to do what they had to do if the man was shooting at them.

I hope the officer that did the shooting is not pictured here. That would be pretty low and may endanger the officer too. Other than that great job with on the spot news from the new hood in East County.

Wow live by the sword die by the sword.. Great job officers im sorry for the fatality. But, maybe there is a lesson in it for people who think they are above the law.

That explains the emergency vehicles that were trying to get through bumper-to-bumper traffic on Highway 4!

And there it is… The explanation as to why so many flee Antioch. What used to be a peaceful family friendly town, turned into a high crime area. Good work APD. You’ve got your work cut out for you.

I actually prefer the police shootings over paying for these bastards to sit in jail. These lowlife criminals have no respect for our city. They want to bring the ghetto in to Antioch. I guess since there’s no way of keeping them out, we’ll just have to keep shooting them dead. If you want to run around in complete chaos with no regard for laws, go somewhere else. The African American population in America is moving itself farther and farther away from where we need to be. America is screwed

It was never a peaceful family town.

Yes it was! I’ve lived here since 1980. It was a nice little town. Growth and bad planning has ruined it ;(

I have lived here nearly 50 years and it has been a great town. You don’t like it leave.

I’m still fighting to stay! Raised my kids here 🙂 33 years and counting…
