Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a structure fire in Antioch at an old fire station Thursday night on Deefield Drive at 8:20pm.
According to radio traffic, CONFIRE crews arrived on scene to heavy smoke and flames showing. The crew from Engine 88 made entry into the building with Engine 82 serving as backup. With the fire timer hitting just over 20-minutes, the fire was out and timer was stopped at roughly 8:45pm.
The old fire house is now property of the City of Antioch.
According to our readers, the incident put out a lot of smoke in the area with a strong smell. Some residents complained it was hard to breathe due to the smoke.
CONFIRE is investigating the incident.
