Update: Antioch Motorcycle Officer Suffers Minor Injuries in Crash

At 12:56 pm Tuesday, an Antioch Police motorcycle officer was involved in a vehicle crash at W. Tregallas Road and Capistrano St.

The officer was taken to a local hospital and sources say he had minor to moderate injuries, but was expected to be okay. The full extent of his injuries are unknown as of 2:00 pm.

IMG_4479According to Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando, the California Highway Patrol were investigating the crash and he could not comment further, but did say the responsible driver did stay on scene and was cooperative.

Police have a portion of W. Tregallas Road blocked off while CHP investigates the incident.

No further details were provided and Antioch Police are expected to release more information later Tuesday afternoon.

4:19 pm Update per Antioch Police

On 6/14/2016 at approximately 12:50 pm, an Antioch police motorcycle officer was working traffic enforcement in the area of West Tregallas Rd. and Bautista St. The officer was preparing to make a turn in order to stop a traffic violator when he was struck from behind by another vehicle.

The officer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver of the vehicle who struck the officer remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The California Highway Patrol was called to investigate the collision which is standard procedure. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the collision.
