Antioch: Man Wounded Several Times in Officer Involved Shooting

by ECT

APD Shooting2 APD Shooting

A man who resisted being detained was shot by Antioch Police Monday morning after a rifle had been found in the street on Folsom Drive.

Police officers responded to the 4100 block of Folsom Drive at 8:34 am where police shot a man several times after the subject ran from police and entered an open garage. The man was taken to a local hospital and his injuries are not known at this time. This caused Folsom Drive and Wildehorse to be shut down as police investigated the shooting.

Here is the statement in full put out by the Antioch Police Department

This morning, our officers were dispatched to Folsom Dr. regarding a rifle that had been found in the street. When an officer arrived, he eventually had an encounter with a male subject. The officer attempted to detain the male who fled from him into an open garage. At some point during the attempted detention, the officer fired his sidearm striking the male several times. The scene was eventually secured and the male was flown by helicopter to a hospital. Although he was responsive when removed from the scene, his prognosis is unknown at this time. The officer, who is a veteran, was not injured.

We have invoked the Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol. This case will be investigated cooperatively with the CCC DA’s Officer, the CCC County Crime Lab and the Antioch Police Department.

No further details will be released at this time. As this investigation develops we look forward to providing further information at that time.

Sincerely,

Captain Leonard Orman

Antioch Police Department

I was the neighbor who came upon the rifle laying in the street and reported it to Police. Quite the scene!!!. . . no helicopter was used, although a CalStar Helicopter did a quick fly over.
Shooting victim was later taken by Ambulance from the scene.

I’m glad the police are finally drawing their weapons! When a police officer says “stop”, then do it! Why run if you have nothing to hide?

Be careful, cme. The crime supporters who read this article will label you as a “killer” and say such things like “over use of power” and “popo brutality” for supporting the police’s action. You see, they get all upset when one of their so called “aspiring rappers” and “great absentee baby’s daddy” gets shot.
