by ECT

At 11:44 am Monday, Contra Costa County firefighters and Antioch Police responded to a report of a man in the water in the 300 block of 2nd Street in the City of Antioch.

The incident occurred near the Antioch Lumber building where a man was yelling for help and was in distress. The call came in as a man was pushed into the delta.

According to the Antioch Police Department, officers quickly arrived in the area, and found that the man (a 25 year old Antioch man), was several hundred feet out from shore and was in need of immediate assistance.

With Contra Costa County Fire still responding, officers went to the Antioch Marina and contacted Harbormaster James Pflueger who immediately assisted with the use of a boat.

By the time Contra Costa Fire arrived on scene with their boat, the man was already pulled from the water. The male was pulled from the water and transported to a local hospital for treatment of hypothermia as the water temperature was less than 60 degrees.

Antioch Police are investigating how the man ended up in the water.
