Antioch: Man Arrested on Suspected DUI After Taking Out Pole and Fire Hydrant

At 4:42 pm Saturday, a male drove his truck through a pole and into a fire hydrant before coming to a stop nearly striking the InShape Gym on Lone Tree Way in Antioch.

AMR arrived first on scene to locate a vehicle on top of a sheared off hydrant with a male suspect and his dog fleeing the scene. AMR quickly began to follow the male who headed south on Lone Tree Way before being caught at Eagleridge Drive.

Antioch DUI Crash 1According to radio traffic, the male could not walk straight and they were afraid he was going to walk into traffic and get hit. AMR was able to stop him prior to crossing the street.

The male was quickly taken into custody by Antioch Police under a suspected DUI as the male could not stand up or talk straight. He was also uncooperative for a short time.

According to several witnesses, the male reeked of alcohol.

Other than damage caused by the crash, no one else was injured. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The trucks license plates were out of Kentucky.

Antioch Police have not issued any further information.
