The man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl and changed with six felonies pleaded not guilty to the charges against him Wednesday afternoon.

David Douglas, 43, of Antioch, pleaded not guilty in a Martinez courtroom this afternoon to charges of  the following:

  • PC 209 (b) (1) Kidnapping For Sexual Purposes with the Use of a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon
  • PC 288 (b) (1) Forcible Lewd Act Upon a Child with Enhancements
  • PC 209 (b) (1) / 664 Attempted Kidnapping For Sexual Purposes–Three (3) Counts
  • PC 311.11 (a) Possession or Control of Matter Depicting Person Under 18 Years in Sexual Conduct (with Enhancements)

The charges stem from a January 3 abduction where he allegedly kidnapped the girl from her home on Hummingbird Drive around 6:45 pm after being followed home from Wal-Mart. Four hours later the child was found at the Antioch Marina thanks to the help of a Target employee in Pittsburg who wrote down Douglas’s license plate number.

Douglas was arrested and was taken to county Jail in Martinez where he is being held on $7.15 million bail. The next court date is scheduled for February 26.

He appears to be pleading not guilty to the charges he has received. Not necessarily that he is saying “I didn’t take her”. Probably saying, “I took her, but wasn’t going to sexually assault her” which we all know is a lie. SCUMBAG!
