Antioch: Male Arrested by BART Police After Attempting to Choke Female With Shoelace

BART Police say a man on October 24 at 4:18 pm after a call of a male trying to choke a female on the a bus at the Antioch BART park and ride.

As BART Police were responding, Antioch Police officers arrived and detained the suspect.

Police said in a release that BART officers arrived and located two victims and multiple witnesses, who were all interviewed. One victim stated that she was on the bus when the suspect approached her from behind and tried to choke her with a shoelace. She was able to get her hands under the shoe lace, which prevented her from being choked.

The second victim intervened and the suspect attempted to grab her phone and then grabbed her on the buttocks. Both victims are juveniles.

The suspect then off-boarded the bus and threatened other passengers before he was detained by Antioch PD officers.

The suspect, who was unwilling to give any information, was medically cleared before being issued a prohibition order and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for assault with a deadly weapon, attempted grand theft, sexual battery and child abuse.

No further information was provided.

Apparently the attacker didn’t get the memo. Maybe our great and competent mayor forgot to CC him the email.
