Several homes were evacuated on W. 12th Street in Antioch after a gas line was hit during trenching around 11:39 am Sunday. Contra Costa County firefighters arrived on scene to find the leak. Firefighters tried to shut off the gas but were unable to.
As a precaution, neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution and police shut down the road between E Street and F Street. PG&E was expedited to the scene to shut off the gas.
Firefighters were on scene for just over an hour without any further incident.
