Antioch: Gloria Martin Honored by Assemblyman Frazier with Assembly Resolution

by ECT

On Saturday, Antioch resident Gloria Martin was honored by Assemblyman Jim Frazier at a small reception held at Umpqua Bank in Antioch.

Here is what Assemblyman Frazier said about Martin on Saturday:

gloria-martin-Jim-Frazier3When I got the opportunity to review the individuals presented to me. Oh my gosh, where have you been all my life. This woman is head and shoulders above any of the applicants we had,” said Frazier. “When we were able to honor Gloria in Sacramento, that was a special day as 80 women of the years were sitting on the Assembly Floor for different various reasons, but we got to sit on the floor together watching others be recognized. We are fortunate to have Gloria in our lives and I can tell you that I feel much more secure that there are individuals in this community that absolutely make a difference. I can tell you that each and every one of you who volunteer in the community that these are opportunities that I don’t have or can fulfill from a state level. We have caring individuals that come in and make that difference. It’s an amazing experience.  One of the things I started, I have been the founder of two non-profits, I understand passion and what you afford to your community and become the go-to person to get things fixed, I would wish we had a lot more Gloria’s in our communities. The one thing I will say is that being a former city council member is that the Antioch City Council also recognized Gloria Martin at a city level and I appreciate them doing so and being in parallel in her commitment to service above self. Gloria has been in the rotary and has a perfect attendance record, but I am an honor member of the Brentwood Rotary so I understand service above self is the mantra, so I just wanted to be here today to honor Gloria because she wakes up thinking about how she can change people’s lives and goes to be regretting the people she couldn’t touch. With that, I want to recognize Gloria with an Assembly Resolution from myself and the 11th Assembly District acknowledging the good work and the inspiration she provides to other people and continues to be a help to people in the community. She has touched all of our lives and has been an absolute champion of her city. You had me at hello,” said Frazier.

Diane-Gibson-Gray-and-Gloria-MartinIn March, Frazier named Gloria Martin as the 2016 Assembly District 11 Woman of the year. Martin, a resident of Antioch, has been on the Antioch Schools Education Foundation for more than 10 years and spent 20 years as a Rotarian with perfect attendance.

She has Holy Rosary church, Pittsburg Elks Club, Antioch Woman’s Club, Antioch Chamber of Commerce, and Umpqua Bank Advisory Board. She also has participated with the Antioch Senior Center and Antioch Historical Society. She also volunteers with local food banks.

Martin also supports various causes and non-profits such as Antioch PAL, the Elderly Wish Foundation, and the Leo Fontana Family Foundation. She is also a big supporter of local schools.
