Antioch: Garbage Truck Catches Fire After Pulling Down Wires

by ECT

At 12:42 pm Monday, Contra Costa County Fire was dispatched to a report of a garbage truck that had struck multiple wires and was smoking in the 4100 block of Reimche Drive in the City of Antioch.

Upon arrival, Truck 83 reported that the garbage truck had pulled down at least 5-wires and PG&E was requested to the scene.

Truck 83 monitored the Republic Garbage Truck as smoke was coming from the top of the vehicle with a small fire inside the compartment near the roof.

Within an hour, the fire was deemed out as PG&E cut the wires and CONFIRE was able to get water inside the truck.

Why isn’t PG&E tightening their wires to prevent these things. It could have started a house fire!
