On Saturday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a commercial structure fire.
The incident occurred at 12:23 pm in the 2300 block of Wilbur Avenue and required 38-fire personnel on scene along with the assistance of East Contra Costa firefighters, Antioch Police and PG&E.
Originally, the call came in as a report of an exterior fire, however, once firefighters arrived on scene it was upgraded to a commercial structure fire response because of the potential for a large amount of property loss.
Engine 81 advised they had several power lines down with an out-building on fire as well as a substation.
According to Battalion Chief Lou Manzo, all crews on scene stood by and isolated the incident until PG&E arrived on scene and confirmed the power was off. The fire ultimately burned itself out and we turned the incident over to the property manager.
Manzo added there was difficult access to the incident due to several thousand cars being stored on the property. They also dealt with a water supply issue as they had over 1800 ft. of LDH on the ground.
One citizen was examined for smoke inhalation and released. There were no injuries to firefighters.

These vehicles are pollution violating Volkswagons heading to foreign markets that do not have pollution control laws. This is what they are doing to move these cars after the lawsuit settlement to repossess these cars and give owners a huge discount on new cars. Antioch is lucky to have scored this business. However, I would think twice about keeping millions in inventory with no workable fire system on the property. Anther sign of this city decay of abandoned property.
Antioch is lucky to have scored this business? NOT. We do not make one dime off this business, it sucks resources from the PD because of auto theft. It employs something like three people if that. Who the heck signed this deal? Duran?
