Antioch: Crooks Steal $1k Worth of Christmas Presents from Antioch Family

Thieves quietly made off with about a $1,000 worth of Christmas presents from a family on Del Favero Drive in Antioch Thursday night.

According to Antioch resident Carol Davies Rupp, sometime during the night, her daughter’s car, a blue 2002 Honda Accord, was broken into and all of their Christmas gifts were stolen.  The presents were in the car because they were headed back home to San Diego early in the morning.

“They are able to park their car in front of their apartment in San Diego every night, but one night in Antioch and $1,000 worth of gifts were stolen,” said Rupp. “I am feeling disgusted and disappointed in my city.”

Amongst the items stolen include men’s DC tennis shoes, photo software, books, jewelry, cosmetic items, women’s and men’s clothing.

When she found out what had happened she was scared and angry.

“I felt scared and really, really angry. I also feel so bad for them. They’re a young couple who don’t deserve to be treated this way,” said Rupp.

A report has been filed with the Antioch Police Department. If anyone has any information related to these incidents, they are encouraged to call the Antioch Police Department non-emergency line at (925) 778-2441. They may also text an anonymous tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using key word ANTIOCH in the body of the text.

Can’t leave anything in your car anymore. Out of sight out of mind.

People who aren’t familiar with Antioch have the most difficult time believing it when you attempt to explain things like this to them. I have advised family members not to visit. It isn’t safe, it really isn’t.

This happened right in the vicinity of my neighborhood, and yet it hardly got a mention:

Dec. 15

Robbery: Police responded to the 600 block of Wilbur Avenue, where a man said a gun was held to his head during a home invasion while he was in the bathtub.

I’ve told people about the two — count ’em, TWO separate, roving bands of thugs holding people up for their jewelry and shooting them on Christmas Day.

I think they believe I’m just being dramatic, or paranoid, or who knows what. It really is unbelievable what’s going on in this city.

Gilda,

You are absolutely correct. The stuff that happens in this city is so ridiculous it is hard to believe.

I think the only thing more ridiculous are the people that run this city.

There are not enough law abiding residents with enough integrity and dedication to get the local governance to make the right changes for a safer city. They treat the criminals like heroes in this city. Those to speak up about a problem are shot down (literally and figuratively)

Antioch, the city where the criminals are protected and garbage elected.

$5 says the robber is black.

I’ll throw a $1000 in and say he is definitely Black. The same common denominator for these Antioch thug scumbags.

I am very sorry this happened to them however, everyone knows you do not leave things in the car.

It isn’t mentioned in the article, but the items were left in the trunk of the car; not in the cab so it shouldn’t have been a problem. We SHOULD live in an honest enough community that you could leave them inside the cab with the doors unlocked and it wouldn’t be a problem; however, I understand that isn’t the case and probably won’t ever be again.

Julio Dec 27, 2013 - 4:58 pm

Sorry Cindy but nothing is left in my car/trunk ever., I have lived over 70 years and it is true everywhere not just Antioch. To punch a trunk lock takes less than a second.

Everywhere not just Antioch.

Those were the days. Back when you could walk down 18th street and not be greeted with prostitutes and people trying to rob you.

to bad they couldnt have been caught by someone and they for some reason made a move toward the good simaritan who happened to be armed and got shot in the face, dont think anyone would have sympothy for them what so ever, thought i would never want to move out of antioch but ive just about had it,this city is saturated with scumbags from border to border, screw it,not enough perps gettin caught by fed up citiznes and beaten half to death, the tables need ti turn here

Reginald Jamal Brown Dec 27, 2013 - 10:57 pm

They only ones that would have sympathy for them are the ghetto scumbag Blacks in this city. The majority of them stand by each other no matter what, right or wrong.

Stealth Dec 28, 2013 - 2:37 am

Can I ask you a question Reginald, why do you hold such hate towards black people??? Is it because you’re a racist and or got bullied by black people yourself and this is how you vent… And if it was a white person that did this would you hold the same kind of hate for them, or just back off the topic all together???

Question two: Do you believe in God and God’s word, especially the part where it says love thy neighbor as you love yourself… I’m not passing judgement I just feel as though we are all human beings, and instead of tearing eachother down as people we should try to live more in peace and harmony with one another… Maybe the world would get alittle better…

Reginald Jamal Brown Dec 28, 2013 - 9:56 pm

The answer is very simple. I hate what Blacks have done and continue to do to this city and its law abiding citizens.

If they were purple I would say the above statement with “purple” inserted.

Same goes if they were green, orange, magenta, blue, and so forth.

I forgot to answer question two: You like to speak of God don’t you? I read the bible many times. Yes it does say what you stated. It also says there is a special place in Hell for those who kill, rob, and rape the innocent and defenseless.

No Stealth, I will not hug my so called “neighbor” who beat that elderly man to death at the Orchard Supply store.

No Stealth, I will not hug my so called “neighbor” who invaded a home and beat the family into a coma.

No Stealth, I will not hug my so called “neighbor” who shot people on Christmas day.

No Stealth, I will not hug my so called “neighbor” who robbed defenseless students at gun point.

No Stealth, I will not hug my so called “neighbor” who shoot stolen firearms near Fremont Elementary school

No Stealth, I will not hug my so called “neighbor” who think it is a great idea to steal from Old Navy during the Holiday season.

Do you catch my drift?

Nothing surprises me in Antioch. Our government has help give a generation or two the idea that they deserve what ever someone else has. If its something you want, Its Ok to just take it. You don’t have to work for it or earn it. Even out here in the country we have to keep everything locked up.

Julio Dec 28, 2013 - 1:12 pm

Barbara, that government you are talking about would be the FEDERAL guys who started these entitlements. How are we ever going to stop these when we now have 4 or 5 generations who feel they are entitled to what others worked for This is in Oakley and Brentwood, Oakland and SF not just Antioch.
