Antioch City Councilman Tony Tiscareno kicked off campaign season early in East County as he hosted a campaign fundraiser over the weekend where he announced his candidacy to run for Antioch City Council this November.
The event had an estimated 100 guests at the Antioch Community Park off James Donlon where attendees were served tacos and a variety of drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.
Tiscareno told supporters that there is still a lot of work to be done in Antioch and he hopes to work to transform the city for the better and wished to be a part of that effort if the voters agree to elect him. He pointed out that he has to run this campaign hard because last time he was appointed, and this time he will be seeking votes from the community, but looks forward to meeting people and knocking on doors.
During the event, he also picked up four key endorsements from Assemblyman Jim Frazier, Antioch Mayor Wade Harper, and Mayor Pro Tem Mary Rocha as well as councilwoman Monica Wilson. Several residents were also on hand to offer their support of Tiscareno for city council.
Tiscareno was appointed to the Council in December 2012 to fill the vacant seat filled by Wade Harper who was elected to the Mayors role. On his appointment application in 2012, he listed his priorities as public safety, youth, economic development and public works.
The Antioch City Council has two seats up for election in November. The seats are currently being held by Tiscareno and Gary Agopian.

Tiscareno, the citizens of Antioch never voted you into seat. You were appointed by those who favor you. How the heck do you think you serve “the people”?
I and 48 of my friends will not get our votes.
Furthermore, you have shown no action in cleaning this city up, yet you preach the same song as your boss, Harper, on “lots of work to do” and blah blah blah on fighting crime and the like.
You, Harper, and Rocha need to go.

Since I was there, Tiscareno made it clear he was appointed to his audience and that he had to work hard. Not sure what your issue is. So nice of you for speaking for your friends and how they will vote. Let me guess, you are a ring winger who hates everyone who does not agree with you?
Unlike the others on the council, Tiscareno did show leadership and presented something when he got the garbage company and mail carriers to begin reporting crime. May not be a lot, but at least it’s something compared to the others.

Tiscareno will not get his seat back. How ironic that you chose such a hypocrtical screen name. If you actually did your homework, not all my posts are negative. Furthermore, you obviously let someone else do the thinking for you. I have many friends in this city and yes, we do our thinking for ourselves and realize the Reality Check of the situation. He was never voted for by the citizens and he will be out of his seat soon enough.
I guess that it typical of someone who is voting for Tescareno. Let me provide a nugget of knowledge. Don’t argue with someone who can debate with facts over your personal opinion.
Garbage company and mail carriers to report crime? P…l…e…a…s…e that’s as obvious an any good samaritan would be reporting crime. Let me guess… if he got the gas clerk, librarian, or any other person to report crime, you would gratefully kiss is ass? Please, don’t pee on my back and say it’s raning.
Additionally, who are you to judge? I guess you speak for ECT now because you suggested I get banned? I have a hundred and one things you can go do with yourself if you’re interested =)
