Antioch: Contra Costa Firefighters Battle 50 Acre Vegetation Fire

At 12:35 am Sunday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire near the Antioch Marina at the Dow Wetlands in the City of Antioch.

Engine 81 arrived on scene to find a half acre of tules and grass on fire and with difficulty accessing the fire, a total of 8-egines were dispatched. The fire spread from the tules to a thick canopy of trees, brush, and berry vines.

In total, the fire grew to 50-acres according to Battalion Chief Jim Huntze and on the Dow Wetlands property. He added that quick action by firefighters saved the threatened marina.

Firefighters worked through the night to control the fire and were cleared from the scene by 6:20 am.

This fire was set by the homeless bums! This is an area they were kicked out of. Remember, they have nothing to lose!
