Antioch: CONFIRE Battling 3-Alarm Fire at Delta Pines Apartments

At 8:21 am, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District received a report of a fire at the Delta Pines Apartments at Mahogany which turned into a three-alarm fire.

According to radio traffic, police confirmed the fire by seeing a large column of black smoke and upon arrival, saw smoke and flames. They immediately began knocking on doors and evacuating buildings multiple buildings. As many as 40-residents were evacuated from buildings. Police and the VIPS shut down traffic in the area.

Upon CONFIRE arrival, they located the flames which had apparently started as an exterior fire and ran up to the second story and into an attic which then caught a second building on fire. By 8:27 am, a second-alarm response was requested.

By 8:34 am, a third alarm was requested with flames shooting through the rooftops of two buildings.

By 8:49 am, CONFIRE reported the fire was still going in the attic areas of two buildings

At 8:59 am, CONFIRE reported the fire was still a working fire with flames through the roof of one building, however, the other building fire was under control.

According to CONFIRE spokesperson Steve Aubert, he says the fire has impacted 32-apartment units and CONFIRE has a total of 15 engines on scene with three quint engines, the fire chief, and multiple other chiefs within the department.

“Everyone was evacuated safely and no injuries at this time,” said Aubert. “With heavy mop up, the roads are expected to be closed for several more hours.”

By 9:27 am, per radio traffic, fire contained with heavy mop-up.
