Antioch Black History Month Exhibit Set to Open on February 3

The annual Black History Month Exhibit will once again be held at the Nick Rodriquez Community Center, in downtown Antioch beginning February 3.

The Exhibit will provide a historical timeline of the African American experience.  It highlights historical events, features art, artifacts, and literature that reflect the Black experience from Africa to the present.  The Exhibit also provides an opportunity to taste traditional beverages and desserts. The purpose is to promote dignity and pride in the African American community and provide cross cultural education for the larger community.

The Exhibit will provide a great educational experience for families and elementary and high school student groups.

Opening Reception:
Saturday, February 3, 2018, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Nick Rodriguez Community Center 213 F Street, Antioch, CA 94509

Guest appearance – “Sam Cooke”,  “Frederick Douglass” & Friends

Exhibit Dates:
Sunday, 2/4 (1- 4:30 p.m.)
Monday, 2/5 to Friday, 2/9 (12-5 p.m.)
Saturday, 2/10 (12 – 4:30) p.m.

Closing Finale
Ensemble – singing Negro Spirituals  Mr. Terry Blinks – Musician

White history month is every month. Especially in the summer when we take long, luxurious vacations costing trillions of dollars.

It would be so nice for people from every country which was part of the Soviet Union to have a month in which they are celebrated along with their cultures.
