On Saturday May 18 around 5:15 pm, we broke the story about an elderly man injured after a strong robbery in Antioch on Lone Tree Way near Orchard Supply.  The 83-year-old male sustained severe injuries after being shot twice in the face and left for dead.

According to one witness, the man was lying there in a pool of blood and unconscious as crews arrived. Crews worked to save the man who was transported to a local field for transport. The victim is still in critical condition as of Sunday evening and the attacker was not located and remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact police at 925-778-2441.

Below are some photographs via Nate Anderson of the victim being transported by medical helicopter.

This pisses me off.
There is no reason why they needed to shoot this gentleman. It is bad enough that they beat him and robbed him, but to shoot him twice and leave him laying the gutter like a rat is beyond being a criminal. It is being a punkass pussy.

This is why we all need to carry. We need to start telling this state we have a Right to self defense.

If you know how to get the ball rolling on this, I think you will find a lot of support. I will definately support any type of carry we could get passed.

Im with you on concealed weapon permits in contra costa county. I have lived in antioch for 36 years and its only getting worse. We need to be able to defend ourselves…

OMG! I did’t realize he was shot! The CC times just said injuries to his head like he was hit with something. That is terrible and SO scary!

We reported it as it happened on our Facebook Page on Saturday evening.

This is crazy. Another prime example- You can take the thug out of the ghetto but you can’t take the the ghetto out of the thug. The thug (or thugs) need to be caught and justice needs to be carried out. It’s hard to believe the crime was not caught by OSH security cameras or not witnessed by a single person.

Let’s hope the victim recovers from this senseless crime.

Please, Please, Please, If anyone knows who did this, have enough balls to turn them in!!! If you don’t, that makes you a part of this horrible crime and a horrible person who will burn in Hell!

The look on the male CalStar Flight Nurse’s face says it all. This is disturbing.

Somebody knows who did this. Turn them in! You can give an anonymous tip. Do the right thing!

I’m amazed! What is our world turning into? I can’t believe some of the souls
of people that live amongst us!

We need to be able to defend ourselves!!! There are thugs all over Antioch pulling guns on innocent law abiding citizens and we are all sitting ducks. They need to start allowing those of us who are trained in firearms (especially former military) to conceal and carry so that we have a means to protect ourselves and those around us. I am sure the thugs will learn real quick when the tables are turned and they are looking down a barrel. I am so sick of this & so tired of hearing about innocent people being robbed, shot, beat up etc. etc. We need to be able to protect ourselves!!!! But no, if we were to carry our firearms outside of our homes, WE are the criminal, so instead we continue to be victims. If our city leaders cannot find a solution, they need to allow us the means to protect ourselves; in the meantime, they need to bring in reinforcements (National Guard, Reserves, Sheriff, CHP) so that our streets are safe. This is completely out of hand and something needs to be done NOW, not later!!!!

This is an absolute tragedy for this man, his family and his friends. I hope and pray for the best. However, what I find disgusting and reprehensible and poor journalism to post picture clearly defining the person injured in this event. How does one sleep at night knowing that someone’s loved one is being exploited on the internet. Knowing that this poor gentleman’s family might search for or be scouring the internet for information and they might come across these pictures. It’s disturbing. These might be the last photos of this poor man’s life. To show him naked except for his underwear. Why not preserve his dignity and post other shots not showing his face!

Any updates on this mans condition? Praying for his recovery and the capture of those responsible.

Nothing from with the photos from my perspective. They are far enough back you I can’t make out the mans face.

Antioch, unfortunately is lawless! No disrespect to the “good” citizens, or the overworked and understaffed PD. When I drive through there or shop there, my guard is always up. I feel sorry for this man who became a victim to a cockroach like this! The town was a one point a nice place for “working” families to live in. That was years ago, it has gotten worse and worse with that thug mentality and “non” working lifestyle that is poisoning this city day by day. It is time to clean up the city……before this mans story becomes yours!

I hope and pray that this man recovers and can live a somewhat normal life moving forward.
