On Tuesday, Contra Costa County Fire responded to a report of a commercial structure fire at 1:14pm in the 1700 block of Olive lane in the City of Antioch.

According to Battalion Chief Bob Atlas, upon arrival E81 reported they were on scene of a convalescent home with a dryer on fire and that all residents were out of the building.  Upon investigation a dryer fire was found to be on fire and quickly extinguished.  Crews on scene were able to confine the fire to the room of origin.

Extensive salvage and overhaul were performed.

Atlas stated that all 49 residents of the facility were transported to an alternative site by Tri- Delta Para-transit.  All Fire and EMS units supported evacuation operations commensurate with the strategic objectives.  Meanwhile, all units were committed for the length of the incident.

A fire cause and origin investigation was conducted and the determination was made of an accidental fire in the dryer.

Significant water and smoke damage resulted and the building was declared un-inhabitable.  No injuries to Firefighters or civilians were reported.
