Animal Welfare Advocate Passes Away

by ECT

A dark cloud fell upon the rescue world on Wednesday April 27th 2016. We lost animal welfare advocate Cynthia Rasmussen. The cities of Oakley, Antioch and Brentwood will not be the same again without her.

Cynthia’s passion for animals pulled her in many directions, from feeding cat colonies in Oakey and Antioch, volunteering with nonprofits such as Cat support network, Kitty911 cat rescue and Furry Friends Food Relief program. She helped trap and fix feral cats, fed homeless animals, fostered animals and helped educated the community about spay and neuter.  She went on daily runs to make sure her colonies where feed and healthy.

Friend Sarah Honey Stewart describes her friend as “a butterfly in the rescue world touching the lives of many”.

Cynthia was the kind of woman that would do anything for a friend. She dedicated her life to animals in need and her children where pride and joy. She radiated life and her smile was contagious.

It was hard not to be happy when you were around her. Cynthia leaves behind 4 children, Anthony 18, Matthew 16, Caitlynn 13 and David 9.

The ladies of Kitty911 are putting together a memorial service so that Cynthia’s friends and family can celebrate her life. They have started a go fund me page to help pay for the memorial serves.  All left over funds will go to her children.  There is also a meal train to help her family in their time of need.  If you would like to participate in the meal train or donate to her serves please fallow the links below.

Cynthia Rasmussen you gave so much to this world and your passion will continue to shine bright through your children who are like you in so many ways.

I will always miss you Cindy. You took care of others more than yourself and paid the price. I feel sad and angry at the same time. While its noble to help animals in need I hope others will learn from this and remember that sometimes you need to help yourself a little bit before others. Cindy’s heart was just too big and she cared too much. I wish we could have “rescued” her. Thank you to Kristy Keusch for the kind words.

Love always

You are so on point Chris and I want you to know that I loved your sister and her kids, please keep in touch and let me know how they are doing. They meant alot to me and many are asking me already to let them know how the boys are doing so I would love to be apart of their lives still. Your father has my phone number, as does Ryan and Casey. Thank you for opening your home to Matthew and David. Love and light ❤ Jeanne Jepsen
