Through employee donations and community collection events at Staples in Antioch and Walmart in Martinez, the organizations were able to collect enough supplies to increase the donation amount by more than 20% compared to a 2017 effort.

“We recognize the need to contribute to our community and are very proud to take part in this program for a second year and look forward to many more in the future,” said Chad Newland, Operations Manager, Contra Costa County (AMR). “The opportunity to take part in helping to provide assistance in preparation for the school year to students and families of this county is truly a privilege.”

Every year the staff at Volunteers of America in Martinez, pour their hearts into community support efforts not limited to but also including ‘Operation Backpack’.
