Oakley agency owner recognized by Allstate for outstanding volunteerism
OAKLEY, California, October 28,2016 — Oakley Allstate agency owner Jeff MacDonald recently secured a $1,000 grant for Saint John’s Program for Real Change in Oakley.
A longtime volunteer with the organization, MacDonald is one of thousands of Allstate agency owners around the country rallying together to support similar programs.
“As a small-business owner in Oakely, I see firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing our area,” MacDonald said. “Giving back to my local community is tremendously rewarding and gives me a sense of purpose. I believe that when we help others, our communities are stronger and healthier, which is why I’m proud to support Saint John’s Program for Real Change.”
The organization is among 3,500 this year that will receive The Allstate Foundation Helping Hands® in the Community grants secured by agency owners on behalf of organizations for which they volunteer. The grants support nonprofits addressing domestic violence, youth empowerment, hunger, teen safe driving, disaster preparedness, and other pressing causes. This year alone, The Allstate Foundation will grant up to $7.5 million to nonprofits across the country.
The Helping Hands® grants are one example of Allstate’s legacy of service:
- In the past 20 years, Allstate employees, agency owners and their staffs have donated more than $368 million and more than 4 million volunteer hours to charitable causes.
- 63 percent of Allstate employees participated in the company’s Bring Out the Good Month 2016 workplace giving program, which raised more than $7.1 million in contributions. More than 8,800 nonprofit organizations benefited from this fundraising effort.
